Re: Pottery Barn backpack

My son used the Small in K and will use it again for 1st. His folder fit perfectly. They don't reallybring home books at this age. He'll get the bigger one for 2nd grade I think, more bc I know he'll want a new design.

When my DD was in 1st she brought home books almost every day. Big ones at that. I would have a backup larger bag ready.

At our school 1st and 2nd graders don't really bring home books. They bring home 1 library book a week and their folders and composition notebook.

I had the small one for my DD through 2nd grade. I just upgraded her to the large for 3rd grade this year. I think the smaller one was perfect in 1st and 2nd. She only had to ever carry home a folder and library books.

Re: Pottery Barn backpack

Definitely the larger one. DS had that in K & 1st. Using the same one in 2nd. Once you fit their lunch bag and snack bag in it...then add folders...it fills up. Can't imagine a small one for him.

My kids had the large as the school requested that kids have a large backpack. It was fine and often with a sweater, lunch, snack, library books etc it was full. No way would a small bag have worked. At our school all the K and 1st graders have large bags.

My son had the small in K and yes it held his folder... but just barely and he would fold and cram it in and destroy it. Plus, once his lunch box was in, it was filled. I got the large for 1st grade. I thought it was going to be too big but there were plenty of kids (some smaller than him) with the large last year and they seemed to do just fine.
