Post interview etiquette
I had an interview yesterday for a school in the DOE (Bronx). It went really well and the principal asked me for my SSN and file number before I left. She also told me she would call me today.
I sent a follow up "thank you" email.
Is it EVER appropriate to send a second email or to call?

Since you just sent an email I don't see any reason to send another and as far as calling, I'd give it a week and if you don't hear anything than it would be fine to call and see if a candidate has been chosen yet.
Best of luck!

Re: Post interview etiquette
Thanks... It's just so frustrating when they say they'll "call tomorrow" and don't. I'm so on edge today just waiting for some good news.

Of course, it's very nerve wracking. You're a Long Islander, yes? Are you far out on the island for a commute to the Bronx?

Re: Post interview etiquette
No call today. But a friend who is an administrator said they're probably checking references and will call tomorrow or Monday. She asked for my SSN and file number though... So I'm hopeful.
I'm in Nassau... The commute will be 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on traffic and weather. It's 32 miles door to door. I'm desperate though and started branching out to the Bronx and Brooklyn when I sent 200 resumes to queens schools with no bites. I'll be happy anywhere.
Fingers crossed.... It was a really good interview though from my perspective. We talked casually, professionally, laughed at times and I left with a really good feeling. I'm hopeful!
