How was the first day of school?
DC are in 8th and 5th grade now, so there wasn't anything noteworthy at this point, but how did everyone else fare? Especially the first-time students.

DS went into first and did great although I'm concerned about his class size. There is only one class in his grade instead of two due to decreased enrollment and it has 24 kids in it.

That's a normal class size in my district! 
Actually that was the class size of DD's K class last year BEFORE they closed 2 elementary schools.
So who knows how big the classes are now. I will find out on open school night i guess.

That's normal here too. In K we had 27. 1st dropped down to like 22 since they had more classes. 2nd had like 27. 3rd 27, now in 4th we are back down to like 22.

My kids had great first days! Everyone loves their teachers, seem to have great kids in their classes, and has been walking in smiling each afternoon! Our class sizes are relatively small...3rd grader has 18, 4th grader has 23...I teach 1st and I have 20, but two haven't shown up yet. My little one started preschool today and loved it!

Good, both kids have twenty kids in their classes. One kid is supposed to be added but has yet to show up.

Great!! My DD started 3rd grade and she was really excited to go back and meet her teacher, see her friends, and see her classroom. She came home the first day and said she had an awesome day and she loves her teacher! We're at the end of the week and she's still enjoying school, she's waking up with no issues, and excited to start another day.

So far so good. It's ds's second year in this school so he knows his way around. Most of his friends were placed in other classes but he seems to be adjusting well, I think.
