Jeans to a Baby Shower
Are jeans too casual to wear to a baby shower? I'd wear a dressy top and possibly a blazer with heels and dark skinny jeans. It's at a restaurant.

Depends on the crowd/restaurant. Personally, I'd always rather be too dressy than too casual. Even just black skinny pants would step it up a notch IMO.

Re: Jeans to a Baby Shower
I would never wear jeans to any event (except maybe a kid's party) that I received a paper invitation to.
That's not really a "written" rule or anything, I just found it makes the decision making process easier.
Although, if you are wearing a blazer & heels & the jeans are dark with no holes, it is probably dressy enough.

Jeans to a Baby Shower
I would never, but since most people don't care about dressing appropriately anymore, I'm sure you are fine. But isn't it just as easy to throw on black skinny pants with your blouse and blazer?

I see what you're saying but in nice dark skinny jeans and heels I looked more dressed up than the many people who wore the obligatory black pants with a sweater and flats.
In the majority of situations, I'm more dressed up than necessary (I opt for a dress over pants most days of the week) so I am a person who cares about dressing "appropriately"

The obligatory black pants, sweater and flats just made me feel so depressed.
I'm sure what you wore was much less sad.

Re: Jeans to a Baby Shower
Right?! My leopard heels were much more fun
ETA: I had my daughter in a floral dress and a fur vest with gold ballet flats. Nothing subtle about us

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say YOU didn't care...I meant in general people don't care about what they wear the majority of the time! I still think it's just as easy to put on black skinny pants instead of jeans for an occasion that is at a venue. And you could have worn your leopard heels with pants .Sorry, just my opinion, and that is what you asked for!

FTR, You wouldn't catch me dead in flats at an event, or a sweater! LOL

I don't own flats! And I barely own a sweater. I have a hard time finding sweaters that match my style

Cracking up at "obligatory black pants, flats and sweater." That IS sad!

Re: Jeans to a Baby Shower
The fact that you are conscious enough to ask a message board tells me that you will look great. Dark jeans heels and a blazer are totally acceptable for a day shower at a restaurant.
