Out of curiousity...

If you had a successful fresh cycle with left over frosties, did you have a successful outcome with any of your FETs? I'm reading a lot of conflicting things online about the success of FETs using same batch from a previously successful cycle. It seems weird to me because you would think that for the most part they would all be of somewhat similar quality. I had my son via our first fresh cycle and if this first FET doesn't work out (praying it does) then I'm torn between whether or not I should do another FET (still have 3 frosties) or just go for another fresh cycle.

I never did a FET, but RMA had told me that their fresh success rates and FET success rates were almost identical.

I really suggest staying off google because there are just too many extraneous variables.

Was vitrification the method used to freeze the embryos?
Were embryos frozen on a fresh or were all embryos frozen for an intended FET?
What are the qualities of those embryos?
What criteria does the lab have for freezing embryos?(Some labs have a strict criteria while others will freeze everything)

The latest data suggests that the success rates or a fresh and frozen transfer are the same, some even lean more towards a higher success with FETs because your body isn't just coming out of the stress of the IVF meds.

Pennycat- thanks for your reply. Sadly, I do know all this but I just continue to torture myself and google bogus crap. This is my psycho, neurotic side coming out thanks to the stress of this lovely world of infertility. I've been through this once before (my son is a product of my fresh IVF cycle) so you think it would be easier to deal with the second time around but apparently for me it isn't. Ugh.

Out of curiousity...

I had a successful IVF and had one embryo frozen in that batch. I did transfer it but the result was a miscarriage.

I used an embryo from my first successful cycle (had a fresh transfer then). It was frozen for about 5 years, before the new flash freezing technique. I was given a 50% chance & it didn't take.

I did a fresh cycle shortly after, had only 1 decent looking embryo & it took.

I would assume that the best quality embies are put back during the fresh cycle, with the remaining frozen. So you may have a good quality embie left or you may not. And that there has to be the difference.

I have 3 LOs and all were from successful FETs. Fresh cycles never worked for me.

I've never done an FET but if assuming the quality of the embryos was the same, I would use all my frosties first. My RE also told me that no matter how I old I am my embryos are that are of a 30 year old (that's when I did IVF). And that if I tried at 35 or whenever, chances are quality would probably go down.

I find the second time around it's like putting yourself in a time machine where not a day has gone by since the last ivf/miscarriage/etc. Whoever has an easier time dealing the second time around should share their tips. :

I never had an FET, but was told by my doctors that FETs were actually more likely to be successful because the embryos made it to freeze, made it through defrosting, and then get transferred.
