Just out of pure curiousity, has anyone who had a breech baby have a version?
I was just wondering. With DS they gave me the option if he didn't flip, which he ended up doing anyway, for a version or a c-section.
I heard it is very painful and sometimes the baby can flip right back to where they were.
Has anyone had this? Just wondering what your experience was like.

Re: Just out of pure curiousity, has anyone who had a breech baby have a version?
My baby is breach and I have a scheduled c. My obgyn and I discussed versions today but I don't think I am going to do it. My obgyn said that in his experience for it to be sucessful it needed to be a second or third child, that the woman weigh less than 160 lbs, and that the baby already be in a transverse lye. He also went into the complications that could occur. I really wanted one, but as he was explaining everything I don't think I am going to be a good candidate and that it will just be unnecessary trauma to me and the baby. Had I already had children or been more stretched out I would have pushed for one. ETA: I am also 38 and 1/2 weeks pregnant and the doctor thinks that is to far along for it to be sucessful.

Re: Just out of pure curiousity, has anyone who had a breech baby have a version?
My first was breech and I chose NOT to have a version because of the 50-50 success rate, the pain factor, the size of my baby etc. I had a c/s at 37+ weeks when my water broke and he ws 9-1/2 lbs!!
My 2nd was also breech for a long time and I was intent on trying to VBAC, which I eventually did because she flipped at 36 weeks. However, my doc would absolutely NOT do a version on my 2nd because of my prior c/s.

My Dr didn't really go into it with me since at 32 weeks he was breech and would probably flip anyway on his own, so she just mentioned it. From what you say I wouldn't have been a canidate for it anyway.

Re: Just out of pure curiousity, has anyone who had a breech baby have a version?
A good friend of mine tried to have one done and she said it was the most painful thing she's ever had to feel. Her husband made them stop, she was in so much pain.
You can watch one being done on babycenter.com

A good friend of mine had it done. She said it was very painful. She went into labor 2 days later and went completely natural. She said the labor was less painful than the version.
