I work full time and I find that I am not as involved as I should be in my daughter's school. She's only in 1st grade but in the fall she'll be in 2nd and I will have a Kindergartener entering too.

They do have PTA meetings in evenings (alternate between evenings and mornings). Besides attending those, anything else?

Oh I am also signed up for their Valentine's Day celebration in class.

Any thing else I should be doing?

My son's school has couple of events each month at night such as movie night or schools dance, they always ask for volunteers.

Our PTA has committees. I've joined a few that work well for working parents.

I'm on the committee that helps to set up restaurant deals (where you get a percentage of sales back to the school) and the scholarship committee (where you review scholarship applications from high school seniors who are school alumni).

I was gonna mention the night events, too.... my sons school has a beach party coming up next Friday night, they had a Halloween party one Friday night... so there are things like that you can volunteer to help at. Also other things that you might be able to plan ahead for like field trip chaperone.... you never know if it'll work out for you to use a day to go. And also the types of committes somebody else mentioned
