Re: Torture
Flynn is probably the moron that told Trump that torture works. The respectable military officials know better and knows that there are more effective methods.

I know. And it's just little things that are pretty bad. When's the first big bad thing going to happen?

Yes, I know. But we're having a bigger discussion about building a wall with a big price tag, than we are about waterboarding and other forms of torture.
Are we seriously more upset about a wall then about basic human rights? I don't mean that I'm not upset about the wall, and the discussion of the wall, and the financial impact on the citizenry if such a thing were ever to come to pass, but shouldn't we be more upset about the actual physical torture of human beings???

I agree it's terrible that Trump seems to think torture is acceptable but I thought he has said he would defer to Pompeo and Mattis who both have said they are against it?

It's an International War Crime, and also proven to not be effective (despite with Trump has heard...), so I'm really hoping that the military Generals have enough common sense to either talk him out of it, or just refuse.
Trump himself won't be doing the waterboarding, so I can't image a General putting himself on the line for war crimes that don't work.

Re: Torture
Trump is a psychopath. And I am (for once) not using that word lightly. What parts of "illegal" "war crime" and "ineffective" are going over his head?

I saw that McCain spoke out strongly against it - he said no executive order is going to usurp the law and the law says, no torture.

This is the first issue where top Republicans have actually expressed an alternative view to Trump. McCain, McConnell, Ryan, Mattis have all come out against torture, so I would like to hope that might nip this in the bud.
