Sessions actually sat on the committee the confirmed Yates and questioned her specifically about whether she would stand up to the president on something she found unlawful.

The AG serves the president and enforces the law of the land. Right now the ban is the law of the land. For her to say she wasn't going to defend the law of the land is insubordination.
NO. The AG upholds the Constitution, not the President. That's why we have 3 branches of government. Since several federal courts have already said the ban is unconstitutional, she had ever right to agree with them.

Yates is an American hero!! Her job is to uphold the Constitution. Look at her stellar career. She doesn't care if you're a Republican or Democrat. She upholds the law of the Constitution.
It's interesting to note that the new acting AG that Trump picked wasn't the next person in line. It's customary to follow the succession line. Boente is like the third one after Yates in the order of succession.

No court has declared the ban unconstitutional. What the courts have done is issued stays pending further court review.
The AG might uphold the constitution, but she is part of the executive branch, not the judicial branch. It is the job of the judicial branch to interpret the laws and the constitution.
Look, she did the right thing for herself personally. I'm not arguing that. Honestly, I feel like it's a little bit of political grandstanding since she was going to lose her job anyway. Good for her for speaking out before she did. But the fact remains, he was within his right to fire her earlier than he planned to.
Her firing is truly a non-story. What isn't a non-story is her speaking out about it. People saying we're so screwed and it's a travesty don't realize that nothing changed. That's the part I don't get.

Trump fired Yates for doing her job. The only one betraying this country is Trump.

There is no argument here, so just stop. This is a fascist regime, and I'm convinced more and more every day that BANNON is behind it. Dump is just the figurehead.
It is terrifying. I think we have to start thinking about how they can be forceably removed.
