Outrageous! If the Rebpublicans have any ballz now, they will condemn this and start the impeachment process. This isn't some reality TV show! People's lives are at stake here!

What a ******* nightmare! If you disagree with this adminstration you are a traitor and are fired. Is Congress seriously going to sit by and watch this happen time and time again?

Serious question. What could they impeach him on? Is that even possible? Has he done anything yet that would seriously qualify? I'm hoping we see that day soon, but I never really thought it would happen.

The AG serves the president and enforces the law of the land. Right now the ban is the law of the land. For her to say she wasn't going to defend the law of the land is insubordination.

Well I support the fact that the AG condemned something son unconscionable and immoral. Law of the land doesn't make it right in any sense. This mentality is why people say Trump supporters are sheep, blindly following his orders without question.

It is the job of the AG. They don't get to pick and choose. If you or I did that at work we would be fired too.

Let's pretend she was called upon to defend Roe v Wade and decided she wasn't going to. Most of us would be horrified, but because it's the ban people are saying it was a bad firing.

This was her comment:
Trump fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates, an Obama administration holdover, after she said in a message to staff on Monday that the president’s order was not consistent with the Justice Department’s “solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right.” She added that, “I am not convinced that the defense of the Executive Order is consistent with these responsibilities nor am I convinced that the Executive Order is lawful.”

She was doing her job, Trump, well Bannon, doesn't like it so she got fired. If we are going to be unable to question anything his higness says or does we are being denied our rights.
So basically America just took it up the ass, again. And will keep taking it up the ass until these maniacs are gone.

The AG does not serve the president. The AG serves the people. The job is to uphold the laws. If the administration had vetted the EOnthrough the judicial department like a normal administration the would not have happened.

She was fully within her right in the office.

Except that it is not AG's job to decide what is lawful. That is the job of the Supreme Court.

In the end this is another let's make a huge deal over something small - she was losing her job anyway. She is an Obama appointee. The present administration wasn't keeping her so this really is a moot point.

It does not sound like she was insubordinate. It sounded like she was going to do what they didn't which was to vet the law. Trump is too stupid to realize it's not something you can do in 10 minutes.

If we don't scrutinize and question everything that this administration does we will all be complicit in our own demise. Nothing they do is small. Nothing.

It is the AG's job to provide opinions on whether something is lawful. It sounds like the AG was interpreting the EO and whether or not it was enforceable, which is part of her job. Trump and his circle may not like her opinion and they can remove her, but she was doing exactly what she was supposed to be doing as AG.

Not at all. You can have any opinion you want. I don't have the same one. The truth is she was going to lose her job. Kudos to her for speaking out but in the end it doesn't mean anything. They weren't keeping her. I would be more impressed if an actual trump appointee had the balls to stand up to him but it hasn't happened. It's just another non-story that is made into a huge deal.

Acting AG fired

The AG is a cabinet position and picked by the President. This was just an acting one waiting for Sessions to get approved by the Senate. The acting AG was a democratic pick from Obama so it is no surprise she was let go since she is not on board with anything Trump is doing regardless of the immigration issue.

We will come out in full force for every miniscule thing that is done and presented by this effing joke of an administration.

Acting AG fired

Her letter to the justice department:

On January 27, 2017, the President signed an Executive Order regarding immigrants and refugees from certain Muslim-majority countries. The order has now been challenged in a number of jurisdictions. As the Acting Attorney General, it is my ultimate responsibility to determine the position of the Department of Justice in these actions.
My role is different from that of the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC), which, through administrations of both parties, has reviewed Executive Orders for form and legality before they are issued. OLC’s review is limited to the narrow question of whether, in OLC’s view, a proposed Executive Order is lawful on its face and properly drafted. Its review does not take account of statements made by an administration or it surrogates close in time to the issuance of an Executive Order that may bear on the order’s purpose. And importantly, it does not address whether any policy choice embodied in an Executive Order is wise or just.
Similarly, in litigation, DOJ Civil Division lawyers are charged with advancing reasonable legal arguments that can be made supporting an Executive Order. But my role as leader of this institution is different and broader. My responsibility is to ensure that the position of the Department of Justice is not only legally defensible, but is informed by our best view of what the law is after consideration of all the facts. In addition, I am responsible for ensuring that the positions we take in court remain consistent with this institution’s solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right. At present, I am not convinced that the defense of the Executive Order is consistent with these responsibilities nor am I convinced that the Executive Order is lawful.
Consequently, for as long as I am the Acting Attorney General, the Department of Justice will not present arguments in defense of the Executive Order, unless and until I become convinced that it is appropriate to do so.

Sessions actually sat on the committee the confirmed Yates and questioned her specifically about whether she would stand up to the president on something she found unlawful.
