La la land

I had no desire to see this, but with all the hype I'm intrigued. Has anybody seen it?

I felt that same as you and saw it because of the hype. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it. I think all of the hype is much more because of the way the story is told - like a musical, and filmed - than because of the story or acting,if that makes any sense.

That actually makes perfect sense and kind of what I expected.

I saw it. It wasn't on my list but a friend organized a group so I went. It was cute- I think I was a little teary at the end which surprised me. Chat Icon I would definitely categorize it as fluff and I am surprised it's up for an Oscar, but it wasn't terrible.

If you're just looking for something to do, I'd say go see it. But if you're "fitting it in" because it's a "must see", skip it

I actually wanted to see it before all the hype, and I was disappointed. It was boring.

i wanted to love it. i love musicals. love song and dance. love love love ryan gosling. and it got such great critic and viewer reviews. i didn't hate it but i wasn't all that impressed. i was like really? i felt disappointed because i was anticipating loving it so much and i felt it felt superficial kind of.

These were my thoughts EXACTLY. I'm going to be upset if it wins. I thought Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea were MUCH better movies. (It's weird to feel somewhat knowledgable about this year's pool -- since last year we only saw one of them, and it happened to win. Chat Icon )
