cord blood banking
Hi,
If anyone chose a private company for cord blood banking, can you share which one and why? Also, when do you sign up? I'm currently 34 weeks and am scared that it's too late.

It's not too late. Once I filled out the paperwork, it took a couple of days to get my kit.
I used Lifebank for my 3 children. I do all the storage options they offer. With my first two, that was the cord blood, placenta blood, and placenta tissue. Now, they added something new that I can't recall all the details, but I did that for my third. I like that Lifebank can collect the placenta blood if you choose that option. If you collect and store everything they offer it's quite a bit more expensive than saving the cord blood and placenta blood.
With my youngest child, I was considering Viacord. If I were only doing the basic cord blood collection, I might have picked viacord because they have more compartments in the blood bag. It seems like that might be good for some of the future possible uses.
I used this website to look at different companies. I'm not sure if it's always up to date, but it was useful.

I just signed up the other day for my next baby and I'm 37 weeks. They overnight fed ex the kit to you so I got it in less than 24 hours. Also upgraded to Lifetime storage (cord blood only) for my older kids also.
