daughter 1st, son 2nd
Hi! My daughter is about a year and a half, and I just found out today that our #2 due in December is a boy. I come from a family of all girls, including all girl cousins, so I am very shocked and (to be candid) nervous about having a boy! Anyone have an older daughter with a younger brother? How do they get along? It can't be much different caring for a boy than a girl, right? haha

Well I have the reverse - my DS is 4 and my DD is 2. They LOVE each other, always hugging and kissing, playing nicely. I personally love having one of each.

I'm in the EXACT same boat...DD is almost 16 months and we are due with our second in November-- a boy. I have a sister and we've been a very girl-centric family. I have no clue about boys and truth-be-told was hoping for another girl (I love having an older sister) both for my own purposes and for my DD. Trying not to have gender disapointment since I know most people would be so excited to have a girl and a boy, but I cant help it. And now I'm so used to DD that it will be strange to me.....I'm hoping not though....congrats to you!

My niece is older than my nephew. I have a lot of friends who have a girl first and then a boy. They're close and fight like any other siblings. The younger boy also likes more girl stuff

Re: daughter 1st, son 2nd
I do! They are exactly 2 1/2 years apart. Dd is 4 and ds is 2. I come from all girls too so I was scared to have a boy at first. But it is great! Dd is my little helper all the time. She's like a second mommy to him. Of course they fight as well but I wouldn't change it if I could. My DS loves trucks and planes and we had all girl toys for a while. But he recently told my dh "I love trucks" so having all girl stuff didn't change him much. Dealing with his circumcision at birth was the hardest part of having a boy so far! And that was probably only bc I was hormonal.

My DD is 15 months older than DS and they get along really well. I mean, they fight...a lot. Usually HE is instigating! But they play together so well; its amazing. They are only 3 & 4 though so who knows what will happen over time

Re: daughter 1st, son 2nd
My dd is 5.5 and ds is 3 and they play together very well. When he was born, however, she was only 2.5 so she basically ignored him most of the time. As they both got older they get along well, but she does act at times as a mini-mom to him, which means she is super bossy.

Re: daughter 1st, son 2nd
I am exactly like you...except I had TWO girls 1.5 years apart first. Then, 3.5 years later, I had my son. To say I was freaked out would be a total understatement. I'm not even kidding, it took me like a year to adjust Well, here we are 6.5 years later and I would not change it for the world! My DC are 11, 10, & 6.5 and the girls get along much better with their brother than they do with one another. My middle girl is a total sports nut, so she and DS play together all day long; and then my oldest is like the little mama always looking out for him. It's great!
Good luck! You are going to LOVE your little guy!

Re: daughter 1st, son 2nd
My daughter is 4 1/2 and my son just turned 3. I'm amazed how well they actually play and get along. Don't get me wrong they have their moments of fighting but they really are the best of friends and my daughter looks after her little brother so much it makes my heart melt
