Nail polish
I’m absolutely horrible at painting my own nails. I can’t really get manicures done here because the price is like $50 for a manicure you get on LI for $10.
But I love nail polish on my nails. One small problem is that my hands can be shaky at times. I’m OK with the left / right difference as I’m kind of ambidextrous. But I’ve had a bad medicine side effect and my hands shake. I did them today, but the cuticles are kind of a mess, and that always seems to happen. I find it goes away after washing my hands a lot and showers, but that takes about two days.
I do base coat, two coats of polish, and a top coat. They don’t smudge, but it’s messy around the cuticles. Nail polish makes me happy— when it looks right!
Does anyone have a good video tutorial to avoid the cuticle disaster?
TIA!

Re: Nail polish
Can you clean up around you cuticles after you are done with an orange stick wrapped in a little cotton and dipped in polish remover? That's what I do.

This.
I bought these pointy q-tips from Amazon and they work great at cleaning around the cuticle.

Re: Nail polish
Use a peel-off latex cuticle guard...you apply it wet, let it dry, paint your nails and then peel off the cuticle guard with a pair of tweezers.

Great tip! Do you have a name of this product. I was going to try Qtips tomorrow because it’s late here and I just want to sleep.
Thanks for all suggestions!

Re: Nail polish
I always found a q-tip or cotton on a stick is to fluffy & takes off more than I want. I saw a tip on You t tube, to use a cheap angled eyeliner brush & dip it in pure acetone remover. it has worked for me so far.
I have also seen the peelable latex for people that do crazy nail art & it seems really cool ( make sure you're not allergic!)

Re: Nail polish
I'm pretty good at my nails but here is a trick: I do my thumbs last. I usually use a base coat, two coats of polish and top coat. I'm a righty. First, I use my left hand to paint my right hand, but do not paint my thumb. Then I paint my left hand, but not my thumb. I do this for base coat, polish and top coat. Then I paint my right thumb. Then do my left thumb last. The reason I paint my thumbs last is bc I use my thumb nail to clean up around the edges or cuticles of other nails if needed. My thumb nails are the biggest nail so they are the easiest to paint and usually don't have to clean them up. Another trick, if you have some polish that has dried on the edge or cuticle, when you do your top coat, put some top coat on the polish and just scrape/clean it right off with your thumb nail. Takes it right off.
