fare drop a month after booking
I must not have luck with pinpointing the best time to book a flight. When I flew to Orlando this past November I booked 6 months in advance and then saw 3 months before the fare dropped a lot and jet blue at least was willing to give me some credit in a travel bank. I read somewhere the best time to book a flight was around 54 days prior. This time around I booked a flight on Spirit (one of the only non stops to myrtle beach) a month ago (flying the end of this month) and now I see the fare dropped a lot (like $100 per person) and Spirit refuses to give me a credit. Ughhh I can’t win lol

Most airlines won't adjust your fare if there's a price drop so you're fairly lucky that JetBlue did it for you. I disagree with the 54 day rule. Most of the time I fly JetBlue and I have found if I book when they first roll out flight extension schedule; example going on another cruise May 2019 they should release the flights either last Sunday in September or first in October if I book on that day it's usually $90 each way. If I wait a month after they come out it will cost me $150 more per person. Usually they don't drop lower than what I paid(I price watch).

I agree with this. Esp on Southwest. Their Wanna Getaway fares are the cheapest and they sell out first. So you will always get the best prices if you book as soon as the flight opens for sale

Yes I agree with you here- ignorance is bliss. The only reason I checked was because my coworker was telling me of a sale, I shouldn't have done it! I guess they're at the point now where they're just trying to fill up seats on the plane.
