can a 15 month old drop naps completely?
I am at my wits end with my DD's sleeping. She used to be so good too but it all went downhill about a week and a half ago. I figured she was dropping a nap and going to 1 but she doesnt even want to take that one. She cries once she sees the crib. Nighttime has also been terrible... she wakes up every night and I have to bring her into the bed with me which I do not want to do but every attempt I try to put her back to sleep doesnt work.
I tried to let her CIO but her voice is so hoarse right now that I am afraid she is going to get permanent damage to her vocal chords so i need to quit the CIO for a bit. She cries from her throat for hours at a time. She is so stubborn. I have no idea what to do... I am in tears every day just seeing her so tired, cranky, and miserable. I am wondering if I should just skip the nap altogether. I feel like this would be less stressful than the battle at naptime.
I also took her to the ped to check if she had an ear infection and they said her canines are coming in. I tried to give her motrin half hour before her naps but she still fights them.
Any insight anyone can give would be appreciated. I just miss my happy, well -rested baby. I seriously feel like I have a completely different kid in my house right now.

Re: can a 15 month old drop naps completely?
OMG, I just went through this. DD is 16 months old and her canines were a BIT*h coming in. She was a total monster. Not sleeping at night, naps, just screamed and cried all day for a good 3 weeks. I kept up with the tylenol and motrin.
This week she is back to herself, Thank Goodness. Back to napping and sleeping.
If I were you, don't give up naps. I have started to have to rock her to sleep again. It's a pain but she sleeps so much better now. Put here to sleep any way you can and let her be. DD would only nap about 20 mins and drove me crazy but now we are back to 1 1/2-2 hrs.
Hang in their. I think these are the worst teeth yet.

No problem. I say just make her comfortable. Those teeth are a real, you know what, to deal with.
I know the crib is low and I am short. I rock until she's asleep and then I kind of drop her in. She kinds rolls off my arms.
Hang in there!!

Yep, DS is 15.5 months and we just went through this. He continued to nap okay, but night time was horrible. Once the teeth came in, he went back to his normal self. You can try propping up one side of the crib to they are not laying completely flat, which increases the pain.

Re: can a 15 month old drop naps completely?
We are TOTALLY going through this right now with my 15-month-old.
Her eyeteeth on the bottom (is that the same as canines?) are coming in, plus I think she's also trying to transition to 1 nap/day, so it's been a pain lately for naps.
Plus, we've been in the bad habit of sort-of rocking her to sleep, so we're trying to do away with that too.
Knock on wood....night time is fine. She cries herself to sleep in about 10 minutes. Wakes once a night usually and cries for about 5 minutes before falling back to sleep.
But naps are virtually non-existent at this point She literally napped for 10 minutes yesterday, and 30 minutes the day before. She had been taking 2 naps a day, totaling about 2 hours on average up until about 2 weeks ago.
I don't remember having this problem with my oldest daughter, who transitioned herself to 1 nap/day at 15 months too with no problems.

My dd dropped naps completely around that age... maybe 16 or 17 months old. But she did sleep well through the night.
