Turkey in a convection oven
This is the first thanksgiving we are hosting in our new home and new kitchen. This is the first time I have an oven with a convection bake option.
Any opinions on standard vs convection bake and times differences or juiciness ?

Re: Turkey in a convection oven
I have a double convection oven. I made a turkey via the Convection way and it was done about 3 hours before my guests arrived.
Needless to say; I bake it the old fashioned way so I am in control of the cooking times. My oven seems to cook faster though anyway.

Re: Turkey in a convection oven
I just got an oven with this option and was planning on baking a practice turkey leading up to thanksgiving (I'm not doing it this year because my kitchen isn't ready)
I wouldn't try it out on the actual holiday. I say go the old fashion route and then at some point do some practice runs and if you like it, be prepared for next year!

Re: Turkey in a convection oven
sorry I know it's after Thanksgiving but for future reference I love my convection oven- I cooked a 21 pound turkey in 3 hours, it came out great! I use convection for everything, my oven came with a conversion book to try and figure out how long to cook things for, you have to adjust for everything you cook using the convection feature once you get the hang of it you will love it!!
