Re: The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann

I watched it. I don't believe the parents were involved at all. A lot of the info that was released during the original investigation came from the Portuguese police and media, and much of it was either not true, or completely sensationalized. The main detective decided that the parents killed her and was clearly on a mission to ruin them regardless of the truth. The truth was that there was absolutely no evidence against them.

And another thing that was mentioned early on in the documentary was that there was a cultural and language barrier between the McCanns and the police, which created some misunderstandings and confusion.

I think she was abducted. I don't know if she is still alive. The sad reality is that we live in a world where kids are taken all the time. Trafficking is a huge industry. People are disgusting. This whole world is disgusting.

I haven't watched yet, so maybe my opinion will change - but have been reading a little about it the last few days and I'm not so sure the parents weren't involved. I find it strange that the first thing the mother says when the baby is not in her bed is "They've taken her". Who was she talking about?
I think the first thing I'd say is "Madeline's not in her bed, check the room...check outside."
And, I also read that the person carrying the child in pink pajamas, was found and it was his daughter he was carrying.
I don't know. The story is so strange. Poor little girl.

Yea I also thought her choice of wording was odd, and was also confused when they said the man seen carrying the little girl was a father carrying his daughter, then they went right back to saying he was possibly her abductor.

I thought it was so creepy when they said a bunch of strange men were witnessed going up to people and knocking on doors collecting charity for a fake orphanage, and that one woman said one guy was a total creep and kept eyeing her small daughter, and the next day she caught him in the house standing next to the child!!! No other info was given. How did he get in?? Did everyone in this town keep their doors unlocked?? Did the townspeople and tourists report these guys to the police?? Doesn't seem like they did, why wouldn't they?? (although from what I saw of the town police in this docuseries the police don't seem very helpful and the lead guy had quite an agenda against the McCanns trying to convinve everyone Madeleine was dead, killed by her parents, without any proof). It looks like such a beautiful vacation spot, but my God does it sound sinister and creepy. Why would anyone go there? If it's a suspected area where trafficking can occur easily, why isn't law enforcement doing more to patrol the area and prevent it? I know it's easier for the police to wrap up this case by putting the blame on the parents for killing her without any actual proof to that to salvage the area's tourism.

The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann

Ok, so I watched a few episodes. I was convinced it was a planned abduction by several unknown people (there had to have been a person/people keeping lookout while Madeline was being taken. Maybe even resort workers. I was convinced (and horrified) that the little girl must've been sold into some perverted sex trafficking thing. On a side note, I wish I could literally murder every pedophile in this goddamn world.
But...then, I watched the episode with the cadaver dogs and their findings. How does anyone explain that? I'll watch the rest of the episodes and hope they can disprove it somehow. But how?

Re: The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann

I think the abductor wasn't working alone. Someone inside the restaurant or in the immediate vicinity was watching the group closely and feeding him information and alerting him when the coast was clear. I think they should've done more digging on who was in or around the restaurant that night. Were there cameras inside?

They get into that more a few episodes later. Basically, whatever the dogs came up with had to be backed up with actual forensic evidence. They can't just rely on whatever the dogs find outright as proof of wrongdoing.

I started watching this but it's just so slow moving that I can't stay awake. I can't get beyond how stupid and irresponsible the parents were. How can you go out socializing, eating and drinking while you small children sleep unattended, doors unlocked in a foreign country? Blows my mind.

I'm pretty certain that she was taken by someone who caught on to what they were doing. I don't know how these parents live with themselves.

Thanks. That makes sense.
