I am in tears reading this. How can this happen? I feel so sorry for that family and everyone who witnessed this. It's truly sickening. Prayers for that little boy's full recovery.

Wow, given this guy's history it's sad that he was walking the streets. I guess nothing had been *that* serious though. My heart breaks for the family, prayers for that little boy!

I cant imagine the horror the little boy and his mom felt.

I'm infuriated at the fact that this POS has been walking the streets with a known history of causing trouble at that mall, and who knows where else. Time and time again, you hear these horrible stories and it's almost always low lives with rap sheets and previous criminal records just walking the streets freely choosing their next victim. Why??? Why are sex offenders allowed to live amongst society with a general guideline of how near a school they're allowed to live, and then you almost always hear they prey on victims again. Our legal system is so broken and mental health is a joke in this country.
May that poor little boy pull through and may this POS be removed for good!

I haven’t stopped thinking about this since it first happened. I can’t even imagine the horror the mother and the little boy went through. There’s a go fund me page. They already raised over $400k. That little boy has a long, long road ahead of him filled with many surgeries. This random act of horror forever changed their lives. As a mom of a 5 year old I really can’t even imagine. They took his picture down bc sickos were already trying to scam people using his picture. What a world. But what a sweet little boy.

Here is my absolute furious answer to problems like this. If someone (the little boys parent would be perfect , but anyone there will do) would have immediately taken him and tossed him over right then and there, maybe, just maybe these psychotic maniacs would stop this. Especially those who do it for the attention. Instead, he’ll be in and out of hospitals, jail cells and court rooms, living and breathing, while this child fights for his life. He hopefully will make it but not without horrific PTSD. What will become of his life because this sick ******* did this?
My heart hurts for him and his family.
I’ve come too close to evil within the past couple weeks with a close friends family member - I’m at the end of my rope with what the answer can be to stop these devils that walk beside us everyday.

The article doesn’t say he was banned. It says he was issued a no trespass after the 2015 incident, which typically expires after 6 months. I don’t think anyone could have predicted this. I think it’s a far reach to blame the mall. I hope he goes to prison for a long time and the little boy recovers.

All I keep thinking about is what went down when that happened. I'm sure it happened so fast the mom's brain didn't even register what was happening. And then what? Your kid goes flying over and then you have to figure out the fastest way to navigate that giant mall to get to your kid who you are hoping somehow is alive? It could easily take several minutes to get to him. Think about that happening at Roosevelt field. If you were inconveniently located from the escalators, it could easily take several minutes. All while you are in shock. Ugh the whole thing makes me sick. They are all going to have PTSD. The boy, the family (was he only with his mom?) and everyone who witnessed that.
Could someone post the link to the go fund me? I would like to donate.
