Dairy/Whey free desserts
My DDs birthday was this weekend and I wanted to bring in cupcakes or munchkins to daycare for her class. I mentioned this to her teacher and she said there is a child with a dairy and whey allergy and asked if I could bring in something he can have too. I’m happy to accommodate but I have no idea where I can buy something whey and dairy free... I’m not making anything. I’m home on maternity leave with a one month old and recovering from throwing DD’s party this weekend. Any ideas? The teacher asked the mom and she had no suggestions...

Look for Enjoy Life foods. Probably will be in the gluten free section. They make allergy free cookies. That’s nice you are sending in something. My son is on a gluten free and I always send it snacks for him for special events like class birthdays.

Thank you!!! They have the brownies and chocolate chip cookies at the grocery store near me (double bonus for the enjoy life website having a product locator!!) so I’m going to get those. Is it bad if I still send in cupcakes in addition? DD has her heart set on cupcakes...

It's not bad at all! It's her birthday, she should have what she wants.

I wouldn't. The kid with the allergy is going to feel left out.

You should be able to find dairy free cupcakes easily enough. I made boxed cupcakes with canned frosting for dd's first and she had a whey allergy. Oreos are also dairy free.

There are a lot of vegan/allergy friendly bakeries popping up around the island. Maybe see if there are any near you and call to see if they have dairy free cupcakes? Even if you could get one dairy free and then get what you DD likes for the rest of the kids from the store.

Re: Dairy/Whey free desserts
Oh! I just remembered that my niece had a vegan/dairy free cake for her graduation last year.
It was from Whole Foods and it was DELICIOUS and I am as far from vegan as you can get.
Maybe they can do cupcakes?

Whole Foods appears to care "School Safe" Cupcakes that are dairy free. They're from Treasure Mills. And if you have amazon prime and a whole foods nearby, you can order them to be delivered.
