Anyone on LinkedIn?

I'm on it but barely use it. But every time I go on there lately, it's becoming more and more like Facebook.

People ranting about stuff (granted, it's usually business related but still- nobody needs to hear you ranting on a networking site-not a good look)

Personal things like pictures of their kids or a date night with their wife (Oh we are both so busy with our careers, but it's great to get out!)

Women dressed and posing too provocatively for a networking site but under the guise of "Loving this work event!"

And then the general ass kissing and rah rah I'm at this conference for work and my CEO is SOOOO inspirational. (gag!)

I swear, even Linked In is not immune to the social media toilet.

i am on it and only recently because my job let everyone in our office go

I dont bother reading the news feed I just go on to look for job and connect to people.

But maybe I will start reading the news feed and see if I notice it not that I need another site for drama

I am but I almost never use it unless I’m job hunting. I feel like it is basically a requirement if you are employed in any capacity.

I have NEVER seen anything remotely resembling what you describe. All I ever see are “congratulate so and so on their work anniversary,” job postings, and the occasional link to a management article or research publication. I feel so boring!

I’m on frequently as I am job hunting (found a job after being let go but hate it).

I don’t see too many personal pictures but there are people on there a lot.

I even saw someone post recently saying- This is not Facebook, can we keep it professional?

So it's definitely a thing that has been noticed. But you are right, maybe it's who I am connected to. Unlike Facebook I am linked to a ton of people who I don't even know. So who knows?

I try to stay off it as much as possible.

Same here. I have never seen anything other than professional stuff on linked in. Usually it’s boring. Lol

I hate LI! I work with them on a daily basis and they are horrible. Looks like it may be the end for them soon. Please let it be so!

I'm on LI too and only occasionally check in there. I never see anything but work appropriate posts though. It's got to be who you are connected with because I never see anything but articles, conferences, promotions, etc.

I am on it and been on more recently b/c i need to update my profile, and network more for my business. I follow a lot of recruiter type people b/c of when my husband was searching for a job..i was helping scope people out.

I do not find that its becoming like FB but i think that is all in the people and content you follow.

I have some great networking people / career minded people I can recommend if you are interested.

Start following hash tags that interest you and your content / feed will start changing.

I think the other issue is that when someone I am connected with likes or comments on a post, I see it in my feed.
So I am seeing stuff from people I am not even connected to.
Like that chicken post I posted yesterday, that wasn't from a person that was a connection- but I saw it because one of my connections liked it.
It's too much like Facebook in that respect now..

And now.....my boss asked me to go in and look someone up that we used to work with for a possible job opp with us. I log in and the first thing I see is a before and after weight loss picture.
