Resume wording question

i'm working on my resume and have a quick question on how to say "in rotation"... or something along those lines.

i'm including my in-office and personal volunteering/community work. one of the things i do is volunteer at a food bank in a neighboring city to where i work. in the office, we take turns and rotate who will be going. because of this, i don't go in a predictable timetable. sometimes i go one a month, sometimes i go twice a month, and there have been a couple of occasions when i didn't go a particular month... depending on the rotation.

how would i describe that time frame?

Re: Resume wording question

Just put years. Breaks in resumes aren’t the best. Well, that is what my job coach said.

Re: Resume wording question

this is volunteer work? I would just say on a rotating schedule; or maybe average it out to x times per month?

If it’s volunteer work, I don’t think you need to describe the weekly/monthly timeframe. I think just putting the years (ie From January 2016. - present) is fine. Describe what you did and leave it at that. Or if you want to describe the time commitment, you could put something like “for an a average of 20 hours per month” or “200 hours per year”

This.

Since you work full time they realize volunteering isn’t a full time thing but it does help on a resume.

Re: Resume wording question

Is this just a bullet under your job? Or are you listing it in a separate section?

Either way, no need to spell out the schedule. You can just say - Volunteer at a local food bank doing x, y, and z.

As others have said, I would just put the years that you've been volunteering.

I imagine that it is inferred that you aren't volunteering full or part time in addition to your job. I also imagine that they will ask if they want to know how often you volunteer.
