Re: Optimum Rate Increase

I wonder if they are capping at 15 dollar upgrade, but per service. Internet is one service; TV is another service, etc.
If I look at the rest of the bill with the new pricing and compare with my old pricing, the difference is internet would be going up 30 dollars and my TV 20 dollars.
Maybe new people pay the full price listed on that plan sheet, and people already that have the services would only go up 15 on each.
Just a guess.
I hope this is true, but that is not what they told us today when we called. They mentioned nothing about a cap. We went line by line about each thing increasing and they just kept saying "yep," "uh-huh," and "that's right." We cancelled a few things we didn't absolutely need but our bill is still scheduled to go up $55 a month for LESS services, which is ABSURD.

Re: Optimum Rate Increase
I just found this:
https://www.nj.com/advice/2020/01/optimum-is-hiking-prices-for-cable-television-heres-how-i-saved-30-a-month.html
Sorry, I have no idea how to "link" on here but this article explains the rate increase and if it's true it sounds better (still bad but less bad).

At Optimum, we aim to provide our customers with the most advanced services and entertainment in the nation. As demands on our network and programming costs increase, the standards and costs of providing world-class products and services continue to rise. While we work hard to minimize the impact on you, pricing adjustments will be made to select Optimum rates, effective with your February bill. There will be no more than a $14.50 increase to your current monthly rate. Current rates can be found in the 'Account Details' section and new pricing is on the last page of this bill. If you are on a promotional rate, pricing for that rate won't change until the promotion ends.
Where did you find this? I looked and didn't see it.
You have to download your bill and check the pdf. I'm curious if pp called bc it looks like mine will go up over 20.
Thank you for that. I did not originally see it on my bill. I did call (I'm the OP) but I had questioned about my bill going up $70. The rep said she would make a note on my account that I was upset by that- ( something to that effect)- Nothing was said about it only going up $14.50.. although I believe she did not comprehend too well. Thank you for pointing this out. I will call again and specifically question that.
Edited to add - I have to return a box this week. Maybe I will bring my bill and price increase insert and see if someone at the Optimum store may be more helpful.
I went to Optimum today to return the box. I had my bill and insert and questioned the rep about the part that said it will not increase past 14.50. He said that was true and that customers should be grandfathered in for some services, although he did not know what and no one will know until the bills go out. He said it will NOT go up $70 as the insert implies. He seemed to say that will be the new prices going forward (For newbies signing up? I have no idea) and our increased should be 14.50 or less
While he seemed confident in what he was saying, from reading the responses here and what another person told me, I am not sure any of us are getting accurate answers.
Next month is going to be interesting. If what he said is true, I guess our response is supposed to be YAY! My increase was only $15!

Optimum Rate Increase
FROM CONSUMER REPORTS: Altice Starting Feb. 1, Altice is raising the price of some its most popular Optimum TV packages by as much $20 or $30 per month, according to its website.
For example, the Optimum Silver package, which includes several premium channels including HBO and Showtime, jumps from $90 to $120 per month. Optimum Premier, a bigger package, goes from $110 to $130 per month.
But an Altice spokeswoman explained to CR that these are rate-card increases for new customers; the company is capping bill increases for existing customers at $14.50 per month, with some paying even less.
Still, the company is also raising it broadcast TV and regional sports fees. The former goes from $7.50 to $10 per month, and the latter rises from $9 to $10.50 per month.

Re: Optimum Rate Increase
I ABHOR FIOS. I have the cancellation date in my calendar and am counting the days until my contract ends so I can cancel them. They were SO shady when they signed me up. The promised me an "out the door" price that they couldn't verify on the computer (I had the rep's name, the supervisor's name, date we spoke, etc). Shockingly, the price they quoted was never realized and after NUMEROUS conversations I just gave up. I've had so many problems with the router. I never remember hating a company more than FIOS. Just wanted to warn you that the grass ain't always greener.

I had the same problems with FIOS. I spent hundreds of hours (not exaggerating) on the phone dealing with their customer service because the price they gave me when they knocked on my door was non existent for all the things they promised I would have. Every few months I needed to call and waste so much of my time to get the price that I was quoted. This went on for over 2 years. I finally just cut the cord to all cable and have a firestick. Best decision ever. $55 a month for internet and no phone calls and wasted hours.
