Is anyone totally alone during this?
So is anyone totally alone during all of this?
I have a SO, but right now we are separated from living with each other (basically my doing). He doesn’t have his ‘official address’ here, so technically he isn’t allowed to stay here because of the quarantine rules. It kills me that we can’t see each other and we could break the rules and see each other.
Buuuuttttt I have my own little germ enclave going on and don’t want anyone in my apartment. SO works all over the state and I basically told him he can’t stay here until this is all over (he’ll spread too many germs).
So I have no one. I have my friends I can call, but I’m really missing human interaction. I’m constantly worried about my family in NY.
Is anyone else here totally alone?

Sending virtual hugs. I am not in your exact situation but I can empathize. I’m a divorced single mom and 50 percent of the time I am the sole adult with three kids (one is disabled) and the other 50 percent of the time I am, like you, alone. I have said from the start, I don’t need people happily hunkering down in nice big homes with a stocked second freezer in the basement, with SOs and neurotypical children, self righteously screaming “Stay at home!” In my face. This is not an equal burden. I would love if this was an extended Netflix vacation for me but it’s not. It’s an entirely different proposition for those of us without company. I have found Skype happy hours lift my mood, and live stream (as opposed to on demand) exercise classes really lift my mood. Stay safe and be well - I see that your contribution to this effort is greater than what is required by many.

Thanks for your reply. It has totally made me rethink how solitary confinement is just cruel. I still have my Skype and Zoom, so that lifts my spirits. I’m an introvert by nature, but this is getting to be too much for me.

Yep. I live alone. And of course no one is allowed over. So it's just me and my cat!

I live alone, with my dog - and I think he's the only thing keeping me semi-sane right now lol. I also am someone who loves my alone time, but I also like going out with friends. I have done a few virtual happy hours with friends and am doing virtual zumba classes. I have also ventured out to some nearby parks for long walks (just walking around my neighborhood is getting really boring) - there are people there, but plenty of space to keep far apart and it's nice to just see people lol

I don't live alone, but my sister does. I'm just trying to call her often. I think that's what we need to do during this time. Just try to reach out to people in general.

Thank you for doing that. I kind of lost it when my sister posted something about “how one knows they are introvert when they need time alone during quarantine.” She has 4 kids and a husband and my parents live downstairs. I kind of lost it.

I guess it is a double edged sword. We may not necessarily want to be alone all the time, but when we're not used to being with our family 24/7 it can get to be too much togetherness!
I think when this is all over we'll appreciate what we have!

Re: Is anyone totally alone during this?
My cousin is totally alone in the city. I feel so bad for her. I would love to have her come stay with us but we are in a tiny two bedroom apartment, my husband, myself and three children so there is no room for her here. Not to mention my husband and I are both working all day and homeschooling the kids so it gets a little crazy.
We have been doing family zoom meetings, we have a zoom book club going and I try face time her with the kids a couple times a day in addition to texting all day long (which we always do anyway). She also meets people for socially distancing walks. I think that has helped. She's afraid to go stay with anyone though because she's in the city and she's afraid she has been exposed to it.
I feel so bad for all of you that are alone. I think no matter what most of us are facing (aside from those with seriously ill relatives) that has got to be the worst.
