Police office lost his job

I didn't get to see the video from the other day, so it might not be the same guy, but apparently this officer posted a video and the department is in the process of firing him:

He’s the first PO that did the video. The one I posted did it after him. I was trying to look for this PO’s video to post but I couldn’t find it.

There are so many arguments that can be made against what this guy is saying. He is certainly not a Constitutional expert. He is entitled to his opinion about how this is impacting his job. And are there "bad cops" out there, taking things too far? I am sure there are. But the basis for his arguments are pretty much unfounded. States and the Federal government have the right to declare states of emergency - which expands the government's rights to put rules into place to deal with a state of emergency

Re: Police office lost his job

Yeah, I didn't really watch his video, so I don't know if I agree or disagree with him. I posted it because on the last thread, we were speculating about why the video was removed. We were wondering if FB and youtube censored him or if he removed it himself because his employer asked for it to be removed. Looks like this guy is gonna lose his job either way. I can't believe someone would even take the chance of losing their pension just to vocalize their opinions. Especially someone that's been on the job for so long.

No matter what, I think it's pretty ****** that people cannot share their opinion publicly without fear of losing their job.

When you are a cop you have to be very careful of everything you say and do.
I'm not saying that's right- but unfortunately it's the way it is.

The fact that they were recording videos in uniform and in their patrol cars wasn't smart.

I get what you are saying, but when you take certain jobs, you know that there are certain limitations to what you can and cannot say publicly, as a representative of that organization. If he wasn't in uniform, in a police vehicle it would be very different. As a private citizen, he has the right to voice his opinion. As a representative of the police department, he doesn't.

I totally understand that and I’m sure he knew the big risk for doing what he did. I still think it was very brave for him to speak up his mind and I’m sure if he took that huge risk, it must have been because it was that important for him and to inspire others to speak up as well instead of just following everything without questioning anything (things that go against their values).
