Re: Saving money during this time
I did a lot of my own landscaping this year.
Not having my housekeeper come.
Not having tutors for my kids.
No sports/activities for the kids.
Cooking instead of eating out.
Not hiring babysitters.
I think we are actually saving a ton of money right now. We are about to drive to South Carolina for a few weeks for vacation and to look at different areas to relocate so that will cost some money but all of our other trips have been cancelled.

Saving money during this time
I haven't saved any money. I mean, other than the $300 a month for gymnastics for my daughter. I think I spend more with Amazon and take out food.

We are def saving money. We used to get take out every Friday night, go out to dinner every Saturday with friends and Sundays were either at my inlaws or we’d take in (once ina while I’d make a Sunday sauce if I felt like it) Saturday night dinners can get $$$$ sometimes. So yea, even though my grocery bill is way higher, we’re still ahead without going out every weekend
Same here, we went out to dinner almost every Saturday, and ordered take out a few times a week...saving so much from that alone. I cook almost every night now.
Plus we’re spending a lot less in gas and no metro cards. We also won’t be visiting dh’s family in Turkey this year, so that will save us a lot.

I’m hearing great things about Mt Pleasant! We’re planning to go this summer to check out that area. We'll be going to Surfside Beach, Summerville, Chapin, Fort Mill. If u can, u might want to check out those areas as well, I’m reading they have good schools. If we move, I’m hoping it’s by the beach.

Re: Saving money during this time
I'm amazed by the people who still cook every night. We used to go out every Saturday night and until we can again we just bring in the dinner from our favorite Saturday places including the booze. Friday nights were always take out and still are. Nothing has changed in terms of our eating out bills.

We have always usually cooked M-F and then on the weekend we will get either lunch or dinner on Saturday. When you have 2 grown kids it gets very expensive. If it was (and when again) it is just the 2 of us we will probably take out more.

Re: Saving money during this time
I never cooked before covid I cook 90% of meals now. It is a huge savings because we would go out and drop 200-300 on dinner many times a week. Either business dinners or personal dinners, lunches we always ate out. I never made lunch. Now we are both home so it’s easy to make lunch.
I stopped cleaning services at both my places. So that has been a big savings
I would work out at soul cycle, Barry’s boot camp, [solidcore] 3 times a week and I had a personal trainer 2 times a week. That has gone down to zero
I had a Drybar membership My salon bill went down to zero Lash extension every 2 weeks that’s zero Facials 1-2 times a month. Color/bayalage went down to zero Gel manicure 2 times a month and gel pedicure 1 time a month,
I’m sure there is other stuff I’m forgetting but our spending has dropped by thousands of dollars a month.

Re: Saving money during this time
We started to grow fruits and vegetables from seeds. Not sure they will take, but I hope that they grow so we will have more than a science experience for the kids.

Re: Saving money during this time
Gas and not eating out are the biggest money savers for us these last few weeks. Because I am stuck at home all the time and the kids aren't in school, I am not spending time wandering around stores window shopping which is when I end up picking up odds and ends that I probably don't need.
Only recently we started doing one take-out meal on the weekend but other than that I've been cooking all the time which likely explains the stupid sized grocery bills I have now. LOL
