I'm going there very soon, and while I know most things are not open, we plan to do the Rail Explorers and the cliff walk. These are both activities that are perfect for social distancing. If you have been on the cliff walk, do you recommend doing the whole thing? If not, any particular places to start, etc.? I'm clueless about Newport in general. TIA!

Re: Newport, RI
When are you going? I wanted to go the end of June, but wasn’t sure if they are letting NY residents in yet. Last I read they were stopping everyone at the boarder & it’s a mandatory 14 day quarantine if you want to stay in Rhode Island. I was hoping it would be lifted by then!

How did they even enforce those rules? Ankle bracelets at the border so they could track your movements? Lock you in your hotel room? I doubt it was even enforced

I doubt it also! I mean, since I try to be a rule follower, I wouldn't have went if they had that in place still. I wouldn't have wanted the rail bike place to realize where we are from and say, sorry...you aren't supposed to be here! Since that was the main reason for even going!

Supposedly they took all of your info & the address where you were staying...who knows if they actually followed up! But I would’ve been paranoid the whole time LOL. So happy to hear it was lifted!

Yeah I hear you. I wouldn't want anything hanging over my head on vacation. That's no fun. But logistically that sounds ridiculous. Even in Florida- I heard they were giving you the info on the quarantine but nobody followed up to make sure you were staying at home or wherever. I do know that some of the resorts in Florida that reopened as of yesterday were cancelling the reservations of people from NY for now- that is their right. But if you have a house down there or family to stay with- nobody was coming to your house to make sure you were locked inside. The scope of something like that is just to big too handle logitistically
