I agree. Get the ones that tie around your head. There are a lot on Etsy. I had to get these for one of my sons because he can’t stand the masks on his ears.

Also you can ear savers. Look it up on amazon, Etsy. It a strip that goes behind the head that you connect the mask to so it doesn’t go behind your ears.

I had ear pain from one particular diposable brand...the ear loops felt fine but they definitly affected something. None of my other masks cause the ear pain. It was definitely inner ear pain, not just soreness. I bet if I'd kept wearing it it would have gotten worse. Bailey Blue masks are very soft cotton if you want to try another brand see if it helps.

The thing is it’s not my ear from the bands, it’s legit inside my ear, swelling under my ear , red inside. I have masked with adjustable bands that I hardly feel on my ears. I’ve had some masks that pulled my ears and they were horrible

It’s worth a shot to buy ones that tie around my head, so thanks.
But honestly, this is true “ear infection” pain and swelling. Last time I went to the dr for this and it was all red inside. Only on the right side too.

I read your update. Do you think it's an issue with the tightness of the elastic on the ears?

I don’t think so because I have the adjustable ones and keep it comfortable. Hardly feel anything on my ears. I thinks it’s breathing my own air in that mask for long periods of time. Throat always gets scratchy. But that subsides when I’m
Home for a few hours and don’t have it on. But this damn ear started again. I know it’s all connected. Maybe I should see an ENT

I'm curious, did the Dr. say it was an infection in the ear cause from the mask? If you were prescribed antibiotics that means you had a bacterial infection.....I just can't understand how a mask would cause that, but I am not a doctor. I would go to an ENT.

Last time this happened, when I went to the dr for it, I had a hard lymph node under the ear as well as it hurting. He looked inside and said it was definitely red. Gave me a z pack and small dose of steroid because I can’t take Advil (allergic)
He said it could have been because my allergies were really bad in the weeks leading up to it and said he doesn’t think a mask can cause this. But here I am, the same issue a month? Maybe a little more later. And Again, it’s after I had to wear my mask for longer periods of time.

I think it’s probably a good idea to check with an ENT next. It has got to be the continuous mask wearing. That’s the only thing I could think of.

Try using some type of "ear saver". I've been 3d printing them, and I've donated almost 3,000 of them so far. People who get them love them, and I'm constantly getting requests for more. They are bands that go behind the head and the mask straps attach to the bands instead of your ears.
A group I belong to has donated over 15,000 of them to hospitals and other essential businesses around Long Island.

I think you've said you work with dogs, could it be that you've developed an allergy to dogs? Maybe breathing through the mask has you breathing the dander in a concentrated fashion through the day? Think of the mask like a filter, you breathe in and it basically catches whatever is in the air. Try changing your mask more often? Just a suggestion. I know that I've developed more and more allergies the older I get. Also, I too, have ear problems and the storm last week did a number on my ears, so could that be playing into your issues?

So I was thinking about this. I have an ear issue wherein when it's very humid out my ear causes me extreme pain. Fluid builds up in it and sometimes if I suction it it goes away. In the past it has become infected. So I wonder if the mask is creating such a humid environment that it's affecting your inner ear

Thank you.

I hope I didn’t develop an allergy to Dogs! Lol I’m going to say i haven’t. Mainly because my little dog lives attached to my body whenever I am in the house and he sleeps on my head. And he’s a shedding dog.

The storm 100% activated some allergies for me. I was dizzy as anything for a couple days after and then it just stopped.
I added extra nose spray in the mix to help. The wind whipping those trees around was an allergy nightmare.

My ear is feeling a lot better today. It’s not 100%, but definitely not as bad as it was. I also haven’t had a mask on since Saturday afternoon. Let’s see what this week brings.

I hope allergies isn't the case since that is your line of business. However, I did develop a severe allergy to cats and dogs later in life. I had cats all my life. I have a little dog who is also attached to me like super glue. I had him for several years when I took in my cousins small dog who also sheds. About 4 years ago, I went to the doctor and she heard me sniffling and requested blood work to test for allergies. Thats when we found out I had a severe allergy to dogs and that is why my asthma was acting up. You also can get immune to your animals but still trigger allergies around other dogs.

Just wanted to share that because I would have never guessed I was allergic since I was living with two dog who are constantly on top of me. Hope this week is easier for you.

The dizzy thing I thought for sure was but then after a few days of doubling up on my allergy meds (nose spray and extra Claritin) it stopped. So who the heck event knows! I’m glad It stopped before I went to the dr. I figured the storm and all that wind had a lot to do with it

As a side note, what helps for me with the vertigo caused from the ear crystals being off, is the half somersault maneuver. Look it up on youtube! Works like a charm!
