Spinoff to "who do you prefer"
My immediate thought when thinking about the question was that it has been easier to work for men.
However, the best boss I ever had was a woman, the second boss I ever had was a woman, third was a man.
So I am curious....
Was the best boss you ever had a man or a woman?

Man. But only because we've worked together for so long, through 18 years and 3 different companies. We are pretty much like family. Like I know he has my back 100% and I have his 100%. I honestly wouldn't want to work for anyone else- so I'm very fortunate.
But my worst boss- happened to be a woman. A nasty, micro managing witch of a woman

The best boss I ever had was a woman, but she was not a typical woman at all. Besides her, I never had a female boss I liked.

Re: Spinoff to "who do you prefer"
interesting spin on the original question.
it has been EASIER to work for a few male bosses.
but thinking about BEST... i'm going to say a male boss. my very first boss taught me the difference between hanging out and presenting my best self at work. my current boss has shown me what it is to have someone who has your back. i will become very sad if he ever moves to another position... or if i move to another part of the country (within the company).
sadly, i haven't worked for many women. i will say that my worst boss was also a man. my last boss loves to play head games. from what i hear, he continues to treat his employees the same way he used to treat me. it took me some time, but i did eventually realize that it had nothing to do with me, my work, or my work ethics.

Every time I have switched a job on my own was due to a horrible woman boss or a horrible woman in my department who made it a toxic work environment.
My favorite was the one who screamed at me for not being a team player after I did my work and another guys work... Her male boss found out and apologized profusely and she was asked to leave shortly after that..

My best direct supervisor was a man. He was a great mentor. I’ve had very few female bosses. Yes he one I currently have I think is good but gets a bad rap.

I can tell you the worst boss I've ever had is the male I work for right now. He has no people management skills at all. Luckily I don't have to interact with him too often. And I have a "strange " situation where I actually have two bosses. The other one is a woman and she's great to work for.
