A lot of "firsts" this election.

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/11/2020-election-historic-firsts-black-trans-winners-congress.html

There are a lot of "firsts" in the 2020 election. First openly trans State Senator, lots of other first LGBTQ+ members elected, many POC elected, etc.

And, since every other state is jumping on Oregon's marijuana bandwagon....
Oregon became the first state to vote to legalize psychedelic mushrooms in controlled environments.

Oregon Decriminalizes Small Amounts of Heroin and Cocaine.

That is NOT a good first IMO.

yeah, I agree. I'm not sure what the upsides are for that....

Marijuana, sure... people mellow out, and the snack industry gets a boon. Chat Icon

I think it's great. It's focusing on rehabilitation and not incarceration. Addiction is a disease and should be treated as such.

Ah, OK, that makes sense, then. So, if you get caught using, you aren't put in jail, you're put in rehab.

That's why I don't like headlines. The headlines sounds like everyone can get high on coke if they want. Not putting everyone in jail, but helping them, is a good idea.

Guess that will remain to be seen with the how it is now with the amount of overdoses in the united states.

IF they choose it...

Instead of going to trial and facing possible jail time, a person would have the option of paying a $100 fine or attending new “addiction recovery centers” funded by millions of dollars of tax revenue from Oregon’s legalized, regulated marijuana industry.

One in 11 Oregonians is addicted to drugs, and nearly two people die every day from overdoses in the state

Yes I think they mean it's decriminalized, not legalized
Like marijuana is legal, those others are decriminalized... so yes you wouldn't go to jail.

Yes but only a $100 fine sounds like how it is here in NY with pot as you will just get a ticket.
