It is ok if I post right? I ran around this morning and then did some cleaning and purging so thought it would be ok to take a break and post. Thought maybe I would need permission.

We usually don’t do anything for Mother’s Day and my sibling, who is another one who is fully vaccinated and won’t see anyone won’t be sharing it with family I assume. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Mother's Day

We are seeing our parents and in laws for dinner on Saturday night. Sunday I like it to be just me, my DH, and the kids. We are thinking of the Bronx Zoo or Coney island aquarium.

We are going to brunch with my inlaws, maybe my parents. DH bought tickets but doesn't realize how much I hate doing brunch since the kids hate going and it's not relaxing for me.

Me too!
Once I became a mom, it became my day and I no longer ran around between my parents and in-laws.
I enjoy spending it doing nothing!

Re: Mother's Day

We are taking my MIL, SIL, BIL and their 2 kids to a Mother’s Day brunch at our yacht club (it’s not super fancy - just saying yacht club makes me
Gag a little but that’s what it is lol)

They usually have a buffet brunch but obviously due to Covid, it will be sit down and distanced. We also usually invite my SILs mom as well, but Covid.

That depends. How many kids do you have?

No just part of the feared people who think they can’t see people even after being vaccinated. Sad as cousins haven’t seen each other for almost a year. Too many things have happened and so much growth and holidays not shared. Feel bad for the kids the most.

Re: Mother's Day

I'm trying to get my siblings together for a brunch at a nice restaurant. One of us always hosts and it's never relaxing. I love going out and it's been forever since I've done brunch. So tired of this past year and take out. Even if we order out, there's always a ton of cleanup. Chat Icon

OMG one year my whole family was going to be on vacation for Mother's Day so I was so excited to be able to go out to brunch rather than hosting at my house like I always do.
HUGE mistake.
We had a reservation and still had to wait over an hour. The place was so packed and disorganized. I ended up feeling more stressed out and aggravated than if I would have hosted at home.
So much for having a "me" day!

I remember going to a country club on Mother’s Day once and it was just so overcrowded and overwhelming. We never went back.

The zoo is limiting capacity. I think it's going up to 50%.
The only downfall is that you have to wait on line to get in to some of the exhibits. The lines weren't really that long.

We went to the zoo a few weeks ago and it was horrible. Do not do that to yourself on Mother's Day.

Exactly.

We did IHOP for breakfast twice with my mom. (I have a thing for their chocolate chocolate chip pancakes with the strawberry syrup.) It's a couple of blocks away from her house and therefore seemed "easy" since I have to pick her up.

We knew it would be a madhouse so we went early (9:00 ish) and waited about half an hour.

We really did enjoy it so the next year we tried 8:30 and waited maybe 15 minutes.

Nothing crazy long but honestly it's not worth it even without Covid. Mainly because I don't like to get up early Chat Icon . But with capacity restrictions? Hell no. I can't even imagine what any popular place will be like that day. Reservations or not.

I might just buy myself the makings of mimosas, send DH out for bagels, and keep my (medium sized) ass at home.
