Phantom phone charges on hotel bill
So my family went away for a few days to CT. The trip was already paid for through Expedia. When we got to hotel, they had to hold $50 on a credit card for incidental charges and said hold would be reversed upon checking out. When I checked out, I didn’t even ask because I knew we didn’t charge anything and she said I was all set through Expedia. Well I just looked at my bill and I saw the $50 hold removed and a $3.73 charge.
I called hotel and she said it was for 2 phone calls made from the room and she read me the times, dates, and numbers. I googled them and honestly they look like spam numbers. We never made any phone calls (well I called 0 (front desk) twice to ask 2 questions). Part of me is like forget it, it’s $4. DH says I should call them call back and fight it, but how can I prove we didn’t make these calls?
This sounds so bizarre. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Did you ask if those 2 calls to the front desk could have been charged to you somehow?

I know it's only a few dollars, but why should those few dollars stay in the company's pocket and not yours, esp. If you didn't make those calls. Calls to the front desk should not be resulting in a charge. I would call back and not question it, but rather state that you are requesting they refund because you didnt make any calls.

Phantom phone charges on hotel bill
I had a strange experience calling the front desk from the hotel room recently to let them know the cable was out. 0 on the phone wasn’t working and there was no button for front desk. I ended up using my cell to call the hotel which re routed me through a bunch of prompts before speaking to someone. I wonder if the hotel phone connected you to a long distance number somehow, like a corporate number, even though it was the same place? It’s very strange though.
