Like I said previously, she can mandate masks for the rest of our lives (and most likely will) but it is not going to be strictly followed. A few parents I know are already telling their kids to walk in with it then pull it down at your desk. Teachers are going to get tired and cannot spend all day enforcing this. It is also another deterrent to getting kids vaccinated. But it is what it is. Curious if the holy “guidance” will include requiring masks outside too or during gym and sports.

This to me is wrong. I get not agreeing but to tell kids to out right disobey rules is not ok!!!

I am sure if it constantly happens they will be sent home for not following rules.

Children should not be fighting this fight.

Parents should be going to the politicians!!

While I do not disagree with you and am a “rule follower,” I think people are starting to realize that the only way out is NOT complying. Parents feel VERY strongly about this.

I will be sending my children in with no masks and a note stating they will not be wearing one so that the nurse can’t supply one. Several other families are on board too. Imagine if half a school did this and they had to scramble every day to call parents to pick up their kids. It would send a clear message that they need to fight for us and with us.

Little kids don’t care. Mask, no mask. It’s parents who are acting like chicken with temper tantrums at meetings and on social media. I feel for the kids who just want to attend school in a couple of weeks but their mom is now pulling them out to homeschool to try to stick it to the school. The majority of kids want to be in school with their peers. Parents have turned it into their own battle and vendetta. People need to get a grip.

I have to disagree.

My kids were ok with wearing a mask when doing things in close contact. However, they are bothered wearing it when sitting at their desk by themselves. Thankfully (I think, unless it changed) they no longer need them outdoors. Not sure about your district, but mine were constantly getting in trouble for pulling it down a little. God forbid my kid is swinging on the swing themselves and pull their mask down!!

Re: 2021/2022 school year

Right now the schools that have opened down south with masks optional are a mess. Tons of cases and quarantines and many have shut down. I have friends with elementary age kids in Florida and since school started like two weeks ago they have already been quarantined and now the school is shut down for a week because of the number of cases (including several fully vaccinated teachers who weren’t wearing masks either). This same story is playing out in many mask optional districts. This didn’t happen last year in our district with mandatory masking for all and without the vaccine for much of the year. Clearly the masks do something. Our school is mandating masks indoors for all.

There is no more choice- it's not the schools that are mandating it - the state is.
So even if you school didn't mandate it, as of today, they have no choice.

Just like that the Governor just mandated masks.

All the arguing and disgusting behavior at school board meetings for no reason!!!

But we knew that was coming.
Did anyone really think she wouldn't.
I kind of liked it when Cuomo was still in and a lame duck... he left it up to the schools at least.

I didn’t think anything different. But the way people were acting at the school board meeting I watched last night were acting worse then children. Cutting people off cursing at them. Yelling at children all for what. Did they really not know this was coming??!!

And why did the school boards even bother hosting meetings before the new governor was in office.

Can we blame them? They’re all fed up at this point. Like any parent that’s trying to protect their child against these draconian measures.

Wearing a mask to protect oneself is not draconian.
It's shocking how people don't want to protect their kids. It's alarming.

Glad for the mandate so now ppl can stop asking.

Then put it on YOUR kids and let other parents and kids decide the best for them. Wear a mask forever, no one cares but someone needs to start standing up for these kids.

i do put it on my kid. and i question the parenting of those who don't. do what you want but people will still judge you when you are literally allowing your child to become a victim. also, i find itfunny that the people who call other people sheep are actually taking sheep medication to cure their covid. if only there was

A victim of what?

Certain death from Covid.
Haven't you heard? The death rate in children tops that of Ebola.

Ahh ok. Unvaccinated adults too as I hear they are ALL going to get really sick and be hospitalized and die.

A group of families did this at one of the K-4 elementary schools in my district in the Spring. It failed miserably.
After day #2 the kids were not even allowed in the building. They sat in the vestibule waiting to be picked up. They missed the day of school and were not permitted to log in remotely.
Trying to “stick it” to the school and using your child as a pawn is never a good idea. It only hurts the kids.

schools will find creative and ruthless ways to win at the expense of your child and your time. I’m not saying it’s right. But I’m saying there is no winning.

Is it worth your kid becoming a pariah over not wearing a mask until we all see how things go?

Pick your battles. I’m not telling you what to do, but I think you should think it over.

How does acting like a classless person solve anything but make you look like a fool ???cursing and yelling at others even a child because they don’t agree with you view. they all had a chance to talk there is no reason you can’t sit their quietly while they say what they have to say!
