Chinese food order

We are having people over and we are doing Chinese. Last year, we ordered 1/2 trays and it was waaaaaaay too much food. This year I think the best route is to just order quarts. If I'm having 30 people (7 of which are kids), I'm thinking 15 quarts of food and then I'm ordering egg rolls, fried wontons and other apps. Do you think that's a good estimate?

Re: Chinese food order

So that's half a quart per person (including per kid) plus all the other stuff- I think you are more than fine there. You can probably get away with even less to be honest. I get myself a pint of something then soup and an eggroll and it lasts me 2-3 meals.

But I always like to have more than less and I love Chinese food leftovers so I'd probably do the same.

ask the place you're buying from, they know best. When I catered for a party with Greek food, they helped determine what I needed because they do this all the time

I was thinking of getting like 4 different things - probably like sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, lo-mein and maybe beef and broccoli and fried rice.

I tried that route but the people that own our place speak extremely broken English so I was not getting very far.

I think you need a chicken, a beef, maybe a vegetable dish, maybe a pork dish, and fried rice.

If it were my family, I would order:

4 chicken and broccoli
2 pork lo mein
2 sweet and sour chicken
2 beef and broccoli
2 vegetable fried rice
2 pork fried rice

Or something like that.

Then, if you get the egg rolls and maybe fried wontons or something, I think you're fine.

If it looks like things are finishing up quickly, you can just order more. The place we order from is quick! In 10 minutes, by the time I drive over, it's ready.
