Job websites/advice

Recommendations for best sites to find jobs? I have been looking for about a year now with no luck. I have been checking LinkedIn, Indeed, and Zip Recruiter. Is there anywhere else I should be looking? I am not even sure if I am approaching this the right way. I am looking for a remote job, there's not many in my industry, or if there are any, the pay is terrible (and I don't really make good money now for NY standards...), I did used to work in HR prior to switching careers , but any low level HR position I have applied for, I haven't been considered for, maybe because I've been out of it for so long. Are there any other industries that are remote-friendly that I should look into, that you don't necessary have had to have a ton of experience in?

Re: Job websites/advice

I'm in IT and we hire people for project and service coordinator roles with little to no experience. These are administrative type roles and would be an entry level job but I have to say I am kind of surprised at what people ask for salary wise - and get - coming in with no experience in the field we are in.
We are also pretty much all remote now- we do have offices open, but many of our offices have been closed permanently and most of the teams are remote.
I'm not hiring at the moment, but maybe check into IT project coordination or service coordination as another option in your search.

I have actually been looking for something part time and I go on Craigslist, Indeed and Simplyhired. My full time job I have had I found on Craigslist.

It is very discouraging as places don’t call back so you are not alone.

I think I actually found something today so I am hopeful. Good luck.

I think it's better to work with a recruiter than to solely rely on websites alone. A lot of times a human never sees your resume if it doesn't have the right keywords on it to make it through the computer scanner.

Think the issue now is employers will interview and just never get back to you. A simple text saying they have chosen someone else would be nice.

Yes, this. In most big companies, an algorithm will push resumes with certain key words to a human. No key words, no one sees it.

If you are looking to change careers you may need a contact within the company to explain your situation and send your resume directly to a hiring manager.

I've had this experience too. Once, I interviewed with a woman who made it sound like she was really interested in hiring me, and that someone else would be contacting me for a 2nd interview. And then I never heard anything, and she ghosted me.

Job websites/advice

Something I have been doing lately is looking on Reddit for specific industries / jobs. I am in Finance / Accounting and there are tons of threads about different companies and which are best and worst to work for.

Hubby was looking for a 2nd, part time job. Had one interview, they never even called back. Other job they cancelled the phone interview 15 minutes before the time and he wouldn't have known if he didn't go on Indeed to see the message.

Youngest kid, one interview, never called back. Second interview, was told the manager would be calling the next day, nothing. Multiple resumes online but honestly not enough experience for some so I would say they ignored those.

I am looking for something part time since hubby can't do it now. Just got an email last week that they want to do a phone interview. Respond in 5 days. Think it has been like 8 days and I responded right away I was interested.

Re: Job websites/advice

I’ve always had very good results by going to the direct source. I have gotten almost all my jobs like this. With my current job that wasn’t exactly possible because it’s a federal job, but I emailed a lot of people to even find out how to find the ads to start the hiring process.

I never had any luck with indeed or any of that.

Well I'm looking for something remote, I was looking in HR only because I used to work in that industry prior to switching careers.. but I have also been applying to things outside of this realm , even things like insurance verification.

I was looking for anything part time after my full time job. I think I found something which is close and very flexible. I did get a cleaning job but that fell through but she might have more jobs on the horizon. Just something to help pay the bills now and maybe some extra in a few months.
