Re: Where to stay in Lake George?
I have stayed at Marine Village Resort, The Georgian, Surfside on the Lake and Scotty's. All of the motels, I had a room lakeside or down by the lake. That makes a difference with Scotty's and The Georgian. They each has pros and cons excpet Marine Resort - I didn't like that one at all. My favorite, by far, has been Scotty's.

Where to stay in Lake George?
We have picky friends who stay at Surfside on the Lake.
We've stayed at the Sagamore and loved it but it was during Covid when prices were more reasonable.

Thank you! Scotty's is sold out and we were looking at that one. We're considering Georgian or Surfside now. I'm sure they're not the most glamorous places. Just need it to be clean and not dated. LOL

Both are somewhat dated, in my opinion. The beach at Georgian is not as nice as the beach at Surfside. The bar at the Georgian stays open later then the on at Surfside. Surfside has BBQs you can use and much more seating at the beach. Also, the watersports are at no extra cost. You can't see the fireworks as well from Surfside as you can the Georgian. I stayed in lakefront rooms for both. I think the set up at Surfside was better. I had a room with a mini fridge, sink, microwave and coffee maker. My room was on the first floor and walked out to the lake access. I would not have been happy if my room was on the second floor as the access is more cumbersome.

Re: Where to stay in Lake George?
Please read the reviews on TripAdvisor for Surfside. We stayed there in 2020. Never again. It was filthy, the staff was horrific, and the rooms were terrible (lamps broken, mold on ceiling, bugs everywhere, carpets filthy).
We loved Scotty’s- but they’re a few down from Surfside (on the same side) that looked nice.
I will say the location of Surfside is great.

Re: Where to stay in Lake George?
Honestly, they all seem gross and dated We stayed at the Holiday Inn and while it wasn't really uo to my standards, at least it was updated and had a bigger hotel feel to it...as opposed to a roadside motel vibe Big pool, basketball and other outdoor sports courts, indoor pool, hot tub, games and ice cream by the pool , pool service from the restaurant. There's also a brand new Courtyard by Marriott in the village. I would like to try it because it's brand new but there is no outdoor pool etc

Re: Where to stay in Lake George?
We Stayed at Surfside & Great Escape Lodge so far.
I found Surfside rooms to be a bit dated & didn't do daily housekeeping at the time in 2021. The location is awesome & water activities are included. Rooftop lounge & pool was nice though.
Great Escape Lodge is an 8-10 min ride from the lake & was nice enough. The indoor waterpark is opened til 8 & it's a nice plan b in case of rain. They have an on-site Johnny Rockets & arcade. Perfect for kids.

Re: Where to stay in Lake George?
Highly recommend Surfside, they just renovated the entire place. So the other poster said it was filthy, Im sure it was before renovations. They now include kayak, and paddle board rentals for free.

I was just there and it was not filthy. I had maid service daily. There are no longer carpets in the rooms. The bathrooms are not new but had been redone not too long ago. They rake the beach each morning. I think they could empty the communal garbages during the day more then once a day. The cabana food was very good but they tack on a 19% service fee on top of then tipping so just be aware. The towels by the pool are very small so you might want to pack a few beach towels.

Re: Where to stay in Lake George?
We rented a boat at Chic's in Bolton Landing. Do it early if you want a platoon boat. The hotel does boat rentals too but we did not use their service. Renting a boat is a lot of fun. Bring a cooler to pack a lunch. There are a couple of places you can stop at in the lack like the ranger station and there is a public dock that has outhouses to use. San Souci is on the other side of the lake and it looks like a little hole in the wall but the food is good and it's reasonable.

There is steam boat - The Minni Haha that travels the lake and plays music. There are fireworks on Tuesday night. The Bank Cafe makes a great breakfast

Where to stay in Lake George?
Most Lake George hotels have gross and dated rooms, Scotty's everyone seems to love, and I think it's because of their outdoor area.
We stayed at Surfside in a Premium room connected to the lobby last year. It was new, updated and awesome! LOVED it! And I'm SUPER picky.
