I am almost at the point of giving up

I went today for my injection class (which was a big deal to me, since I am terrified of needles). Anyway, after everything is said and done and I tell her we are freezing my dh's semen to do this she explains to me that that's fine but make sure he isnt sick at all for at least a month before he drops off the specimen.

Well, he's been sick and about 2weeks ago he took amoxicillan so, guess what I need to wait another whole cycle.

If I hadnt come to work I would be crying my eyes out right now. It seems every time I take a step forward I get pushed back another one.

It's so frustrating but try not to lose hope. It will be worth the wait.

Set backs are always hard to deal with, but I agree that it will be worth the wait. Try to treat your self to something nice, whether it's shoes or just a big dessert, I know that always makes me feel a little better. Re: I am almost at the point of giving up

he can do it anyway if he feels up to it. When they get the sperm they do a mini SA, if they see any white blood cells ( from beingsick) , they will report it back and if its too high, cancel the freezing. But everything COULD be fine? I would try it if it were me and DH was up to it.

I agree. Can I ask why you are doing frozen, not fresh? Also did you talk to your mD about pushing it back, or the nurse decided?

Anyway if this is the best thing than thats what you want. I know its hard to delay it, but if its gonna be the dfiference between a BFN or a BFP< trust me... you want to wait.

Re: I am almost at the point of giving up

as frustrating as it is, try not to look at it as a setback, but a chance to make sure dh's sperm are absolutely at their best. like pauline said, that could make a big difference towards your bfp.

Don't give up - taking a break is okay. Trust me, I've been in a holding pattern for six months now and can't wait to start back at it. If the DR. thinks you should hold off on this cycle then do so, but don't take a nurses word for it..talk to your doctor. Hope you feel better soon...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I am almost at the point of giving up

Thank you everyone. I did call the dr and she confirmed waiting.

Someone asked why frozen and the reason is, he does heating in the city so he's not always available to go to the drs office. For instance he went to work this morning and I probably wont see him until sometime tomorrow night or Sat morning. Then we have his daughter every other wknd so this on top of his job is extremely stressful, so freezing it because I can go at any time was the perfect solution.

makes sense to me. I haven't done IVF yet but this is my concern as well b/c my husband's job requires him to be away at times.

Good Luck with everything!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I know how you feel, we have had a few setbacks with me getting sick right before a cycle, it sucks. Don't give up, you'll get there!

I know it's hard to wait but you've come this far; you can't give up now. Try to tell yourself that it's just one more month. It'll be here before you know it.

Re: I am almost at the point of giving up

Can I ask why him having a cold effects it? They wouldn't tell you not to have sex if he was sick? Just wondering.

We have to freeze as well, but because my DH has prostate cancer and we don't have a choice.

I know how you feel. I think we all do here. We keep hitting road blocks. It has been one thing after another for us. But we are trying to keep going, keep faith, and stay positive. Some days are definately more trying then others.

FM me if you want to chat more. I totally understand where you are coming from. Best of luck!
