How many people recommend Atkins, and How many People recommend Weight watchers??
I need to start a diet this week. Which is better and why?

Re: Atkins or Weight Watchers
my personal opinion, weight watchers. on w.w., u could have anything, u just have to count the points. on atkins your limited and u have a lot of meat. i like some carbs , atkins u can't have any

Re: Atkins or Weight Watchers
I like Weight Watchers because in essence I can have what I want within appropriate portions.
Atkins is more for someone that needs more food yet does not mond being restricted to eating off of a food list.
I have done both and find that when my stomach is super stretched and used to consuming too much food I need to go on Atkins to "cleanse" my body of cravings and to shrink my stomach, since I am never too hungry on atkins.
Once I get to this point, I switch to WW because I am more able to eat the smaller portions required and also find I am so tired of eating high fat that I actually enjoy eating lighter more WW geared foods.

Re: Atkins or Weight Watchers
That is how I feel now. I gained 35 pounds since Danielle and I got married in 2004, and now I am almost 200LBS and I feel gross.
Weight watchers is a great Plan. I lost 15lbs on it in the past, but I dont know if I am ready to count points....I know I didnt like that in the past.
I was thinking about doing 2 to 3 weeks of induction and then going on WW or some other plan.

WW. It just gives you more option and you're not as deprived and IMO it's easier to function in social situations on WW.

Re: Atkins or Weight Watchers
I highly recommend WW. I like that no food are restricted. It also has made me more aware of what I am eating. I find that writing down what I eat really helps me stay focused.

Re: Atkins or Weight Watchers
I think long term, WW is more feasible. Although, Atkins will prob give you more immediate results initially.

Re: Atkins or Weight Watchers
I like atkins. It's not easy but at least I am not hungry when I follow the plan. There's enough variety to keep it interesting - you can have veggies and later on fruits. There are a lot of low carb options in the stores these days. They aren't for the weight loss phase of the program, but when you get further along there are LC pastas & bread products available.
I did points/WW a couple of times and was just miserable. I became totally obsessed with food because I was hungry all the time.

Re: Atkins or Weight Watchers
I really like South Beach. It's very similiar to atkins. I go without any carbs for 14 days then induce the good carbs back in, so you do not have to go too long without carbs. I did it 2 times for my wedding and lost 20 pounds. I started it again today!

Re: Atkins or Weight Watchers
Why not try the core program on WW? It is sort of the best of both.
