jewish moms - did you have a baby naming?
If so - did you do it at a temple...a home? Can you tell me more??!

For a baby naming I think you do it at a temple.
and then you can have the gathering afterwards at the house or do everything at the temple.

My Aunt just had a baby (babies) naming for her 2 month old twins in July. It was at a synagogue in Commack then we went to my grandma's afterwards for a late lunch.

I did not have one for my daughter..... but my sister just did it for my niece. She found a ceremony online and gave each of us something to read.and we did it in a resturant with out a rabbi. I actually went to one in the city and we sat in the service for them to name the baby for 5 seconds..

i just went to a baby naming ceremony a few weeks ago. it was at home with a rabbi. it was a lovely ceremony. the rabbi said some things about the ceremony and baby girls. a few family members & the godparents read something nice, and then the parents talked about the significance of the baby's name (she was named after her maternal & paternal great grandmothers). the ceremony took about 20 minutes (because the parents talked for awhile). then we ate! it was really nice.

Ours was done at Midway Jewish Center in Syosset. The parents and grandparents are called for an aliyah and the rabbi did a special blessing for the baby. I'm not very religious, but I found this to be a really nice experience.

I had a small one. No party. Just me, my mom and the baby went to the temple and had it done with the rabbi. He said some beautiful things and blessed Samantha and said a prayer and filled out the certificate. My husband was not even there but he is not really religious at all. It was more for my mom then anyone else. It meant a lot to her.
