how long after you drop....

does it take to give birth? Everyone is telling me I dropped over the past few days - is that any indication as to when I will have the baby?

I dropped well before I gave birth. I actually dropped around 2 months before. I don't think it means anything. My son's head was right there, but still didn't mean anything.

Doesn't mean anything. I never carried high through the whole pregnancy....Right from the beginning people told me I dropped ........The baby has been so low for the past month that the Drs can actually touch him and still nothing.......sorry to disappoint you

I read that sometimes the baby never really "drops" until your water breaks..

I head it typically happens about 3-4 weeks before labor, but from some of these posts it sounds like it could happen even longer then that!

I felt like I dropped in January (not sure when) but wasn't due until late February. Most people said I hadn't dropped but I felt the difference and DH could see it too. But then the day my water borke - that morning I felt like the baby went back up and was convinced I would go late and someone told me - wow you are high - you have a way to go....who knew my water broke that night..three weeks early! Long story short - who knows what dropping means to labor!
