I was given pitocin and was having fast, strong contractions before I got my epi...My contractions began getting strong at 8am and the pitocin was upped at 9am, then they really got strong
do they hurt, yes, is it bearable, yes (but remember I was only a fingertip dialated when I got my epi)
You will be fine

Let me just say that you usually hear the horrible stories more than the great ones. I did not feel my epidural at all and I had a completely painfree labor and birth. Don't stress over it
Me, too....I had my first Son in five hours and had a great birth and labor.
