Re: Need Advice (kinda long)
Wait, are you taking about your SIL ? Cause you said MIL first? But I dont think your MIL is married to your BIL???
BUT..regardless of who it is. Its selfish and childish on her part and I would 100% call her on it.
I think once you have kids, its time to be adults, and even if the fight was your fault, doesnt give her any right to treat a child ( yours) that way.

Re: Need Advice (kinda long)
The whole situation just stinks!! I think what they did was wrong, however, I wouldn't try to belabor this disagreement any longer. If it were me, I'd call her and tell her that we need to talk and just get it out. I would definitely make sure I tell her that she hurt me by not attending the Christening and ignoring DS on another occasion. Sometimes it's worth it to just take a step back and agree to start over....

I agree with this... but I would do it in a way that doesn't cause another fight/argument. Let her know that she really hurt your feelings by blowing off the Christening and then blowing you off in your presence.... tell her you would like to move past this so this rift goes away.

Re: Need Advice (kinda long)
My family was divided by a cousin in law's email, 3 years ago, we just squished it less than a month ago. We all missed out on so much that we could never get back. in the end, it hurt too much NOT to talk to my family that once we were so close too.
I say, be the bigger and better one. Make up, if not for yourselves but for the kids. Family is precious and life is too short.
IMO and experience, Family is precious to have rifs. Let it go.
