that is so gross! i'm brining my own cups next hotel stay Chat Icon

Sad thing is that those cleaning people caught on tape will probably get fired, hotels will propbably use the excuse they weren't following proper procedure; even tho I am sure that is not the case.

That's disgusting! As a motel manager, (who uses plastic cups) I will also tell you, take the bedspread off the bed and ask for a second sheet to put on top of the blanket!

Re: Don't ever drink from hotel glasses!

Now I know why some hotels use plastic cups that come in sealed wrapping. It is a lot more safe.

Re: Don't ever drink from hotel glasses!

I used to work at a Radisson, and they do the same thing. Those glasses never get cleaned. Always take the comforter off the bed and don't use the blanket that's underneath it. Call housekeeping and have them bring up another blanket, the blankets that they bring up are clean.
The comforters only get washed on an avg. once per month if that. I also know that not always do they throw out blood soiled sheets as they are supposed to, I know this because I was good friends with the ex. housekeeper. So if you see a discolored sheet beware!

I ALWAYS throw that nasty bedspread off the bed as soon as I get into my hotel room- those things gross me out! Chat Icon
As far as the hotel glasses go, I'm not surprised because honestly I don't trust that someone else will clean something the way it should be cleaned that they themselves will not be using.

But I'm definitely going to show my DH this video b/c he always thinks that he's not going to be the one to catch some bacteria or some disease & that I'm being paranoid. Chat Icon

lol- you sound like my parents... they NEVER go out to eat unless it's an occasion. My father worked in constuction before he retired & he'd come home with some really gross stories about what he sees in the backroom & kitches of restaurants

YEP the blanket that's underneath the comforter doesn't get washed much either, plus even if it's a new blanket a dirty @$$ comforter was touching itChat Icon Chat Icon Your better off taking both off and throwing it into the corner of the room and calling downstairs and requesting a new blanket, Oprah did a show about this I think a year ago and she says it's even ok to request a new comforter as well. So that's what I do, I really started doing it after I worked at the hotel.
When I worked at the hotel I would have to stay over on the weekends sometimes for the rotational manager on duty. I would usually use a show room and I would bring up extra pillows and blankets because the pillows that are there touch the comforter tooChat Icon Chat Icon

My hubby thinks I am nuts but I ALWAYS travel with a big can of lysol.
I spray the sh!t out of everything in the room and bathroom.
I don't touch my bare feet to the shower or even the carpeting in the bedrooms.
I always say- if you were getting paid minimum wage, would you really care if the toilet was sterile or not in the room you cleaned? As long as it's looks clean it's good enough for them.

Hotel rooms are the nastiest places in the world.... UGHHHHHH
