Re: Mom's who work in the city

We live in Queens on the edge of LI. DH drops DS off at 8:20-8:30 and I pick him up by 6pm.

There are plenty of children in his class that are there far longer - not to worry Chat Icon Just an FYI - she will be EXHAUSTED the first month or so. There were plenty of nights that DS conked out in the car on the way home and I managed to change his diaper in his sleep and put him to bed Chat Icon But they get used to it.

Re: Mom's who work in the city

I just started a new job in LI a couple months ago, but prior to this, I was commuting.

I used to drop her off at 7-7:15am in the morning and picked her up at 6:30pm. She was 14 weeks old when we started. She was there for an average of 11 hours a day. If I had to travel or go in early for a meeting I would drop her off at 6:30am. Chat Icon

In the beginning I felt really bad that she was there so long, but she really took to it and she loves her teachers and playing with her friends. And they take great care of her.

Now I drop her off at around 8-8:30am and pick her up at 6ish.

I also live in Brooklyn and work in Manhattan. I drop DD off at about 8:00 and DH picks her up at 6:30 and he has to rush to get there in time. She's there longer than all the other kids. Chat Icon

Re: Mom's who work in the city

DS is dropped off at 7am and he is picked up at 6pm so he puts in an 11 hour day! But he does well - takes a 1.5 to 2 hour nap and I get him to bed by 7/7:30 pm so he gets about 10 - 11 hours of sleep at night.

There is so much to see and do at his center and he really thrives...so we are very happy with this arrangement. He gets all three meals and two snacks at daycare. He also has indoor playground time, crafts every day, music and the celebrate the holidays. Every day is a full day and he thrives.

Re: Mom's who work in the city

I drop DS around 8:15PM and DH picks him up around 4:15PM (but I don't get home until 7/7:30PM). So, he's at daycare for about 8 hrs when he's there.

Re: Mom's who work in the city

I live in Qns but work in NYC. I drop DS off at 8am. DH gets out of work most days earlier then me so he gets him around 4:30pm. On the days DH has to work late I leave my office at 4:50 in order to pick him up at 6pm. I hate having to pick him up because that means he is the last child there waiting for me. Chat Icon
