My old boss used to clip his nails at his desk every week. My HR dept did nothing, so when the clippers came out, I just grabbed my coffee and disappeared for a while.
Yours is tougher because it's an all day thing.

uggh I hate that I have a guy in my office that sniffles all day long every day its so annoying. And then theres another guy who has his own office yet you hear him popping gum so loud its disgusting and annoying and he talks so loud and he doesn't even bother close his door which amazes me why does he need an office if he doesn't know how to use the door absolutely amazing the things people do that irrates you. I understand your pain.

I used to have an office mate that played his ipod sooo loud I could hear his music and when he didn' have his music on he would listen to sports radio really loud. Thankfully we've since moved and though he sits by me we're in open cubes so he can't do that anymore

This sounds like the same person who would sit in his office right across from me when I was at my last job! I couldn't say or do anything to make him stop, so I got ear buds and listened to music loud enough to drown him out but low enough so I could hear the phone ring.
I'm sorry your going through this, it definitely does su#k!!

Andrea -- can't you ask HR to be discreet about it? Say that they walked by and heard it and felt it was a distraction or something???

Thanks girls! I dont' think i would ever get HR involved, even though it annoys 2 other people, they'd never say a word and I work directly with this person and would definitely suffer for it after HR spoke with them.
Someone just told me that this person does this while on conference calls too with many people on the phone. I'd hang up!
This person obviously has no clue that he/she is being so loud with their horrendous table manners. I've been on conference calls where someone else is making noises or rattling papers and I will speak up and say something.
Not an easy solution if HR can't help you. If only there was an easy way you could mention that the ice crunching is distracting to everyone within ear shot. Never mind that it is so damaging to the teeth.
Hey, just get everyone else to start chomping on celery stalks all at the same time.
I feel for you.

Oh Kim, I feel for you! if it's anything like this person I work with, i couldn't even be in the same room with your Mom.
I've known people who sucked on ice so they don't eat as much or whatever, but this is definitely chewing like you are eating chips and the lips smacking together.
OMG, makes me NUTS!!!!!!!!!
Yup she {{{Crunches}}} all the time. I have been able to block the sound. Other wise I would be in jail.
