1 cm dilated...how long til natural labor?
I had a second internal today (countdown 4 days!) and I am 1 cm dilated. I saw a different doctor because mine is on vaca, and I said "What does that mean?" And she so kindly explained to me how big a cm. is. 
Anyway, she felt that I will go into labor naturally soon because the baby is very low, though she said there is no way to predict based on the cm. dilation.
For BTDT moms, how long did it take you to go from 1 cm dilated into natural labor?

im curious too b/c im 3 cm dilated, and nada.

Well I can tell you this,
I was zero dilated, 4 days late and had everything happen to me all at once. My baby was born hours later.
Then I was 2 cm for 2 weeks, then went to 3 cm for another week. Finnaly I had her.
Dilated means something but not everything!
The fact that your baby is low is more of an estimate than the fact that you dilated a cm. So I agree with your dr.
It's all one big waiting game...

I was 1 cm at 36 weeks, and stayed that way until I was induced at 41 weeks.
You just never know, everyone's body is different.

Unfortulately, it really doesn't mean anything!
I wasn't dilated at all on my last appointment with the doctor, and then 5 days later, I had a baby.

I went into labor at a fingertip dialated....and it continued for over 3 days. Everyone is different, but it's going to be soon!

It can totally vary. I was 1 cm at 36 weeks. At 39 weeks, I was about 1.5, and went into labor 1-2 days before my due date. My labor progressed pretty quickly and I was just about 4 cm when I got to the hospital, 6 cm about 2 hours later, and was holding my daughter about 3 hours after that.
My doctor said the dilation didn't really predict when you would go into labor, but the best part about it was that the first 1-2 cm is the "hardest" and that if you need to be induced, your chances of successful induction are dramatically increased if you are already 1-2 cm dilated when they induce you. I felt a lot better knowing that.

I was 1 cm. dilated for a month before I started labor and even then the progression was slow for me

i have been dilated 1 cm since my 29 week appt and i still havent progressed.
dr. is not worried.
some people stay at 1 cm and will only dilate more with an induction

I was 1cm dilated at 36 weeks. 3cm dilated at 39 weeks. Went into natural labor the same night as my 39 week appointment and DD was born early the next morning at 2:52am. 
There really is no way of telling for sure how much longer it's going to be though...

There is no way to predict it.
My SIL was 2cms dialated for 3 weeks! We were due a day apart, I was induced, but had no progression prior (no dialation, etc), and I STILL had my DD before she had her baby.

I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced at my first internal. I didn't have DS until 3.5 wks later...

I was 2cm dilated for 3 weeks before I went into labor
4 weeks before my due date, the doctor told me I was going to be early that I could go within the next week or 2, I had DS at 11:25 pm the day before my due date.
Everyone is different though so you may end up going soon! There is really no way to tell!
