1-hour glucose test tmrw and driving myself nuts today!
I really don't want to fail this test but I know that it's very common. I'm over-analyzing everything that I'm eating and seriously driving myself insane!! lol
For the ladies who already took the test, did you change your diet at all the day before? I'm trying to steer clear of sweets and am limiting my carbs, but do you think this will even make a difference?

Re: 1-hour glucose test tmrw and driving myself nuts today!
I don't know if changing your diet has any affect. I know for me I went to my 24 week appointment and they gave me a script to get the test done. I decided to go the very next morning since DH was home to drive me (I get very dizzy from blood tests). I ate like cr@p the day before (tons of sugar and carbs) but I didn't eat breakfast that morning and just found out i passed "with flying colors" as my Dr. told me.

Mine is Wednesday and I haven't changed my diet at all...I mean it is what it is isn't it? Can you fool the test by changing your diet for a week?

Oh wow, Congrats!! I'm SO jealous!
My doctor just told me not to eat breakfast before the test (I'm going at 8am), but I've read on here that many girls avoided sweets/carbs. Glad to hear that it didn't have any affect on you! Does that mean I can have pizza for lunch??

Re: 1-hour glucose test tmrw and driving myself nuts today!
The nurse at my OB's office told me to try to avoid carbs and sweets for 2 days before mine. I'm going to try to just do salads and stuff that weekend (mine's on a Monday morning at 9 am). I already have the drink in the fridge. I'm dreading the whole thing already. My OB himself actually told me not to do anything different, nor to fast. But I'd rather make my chances as good as possible to pass the first time. I honestly don't think anything is going to change whether or not I have GD... Here's hoping!!!
Good luck tomorrow!!!

Re: 1-hour glucose test tmrw and driving myself nuts today!
I'm going for mine tomorrow too !! I didn't even think about changing my diet today though !! I had a bagel for breadfast and am having leftover pasta & meatballs for lunch !!
Tomorrow for breakfast I am going to have something small (my test isn't until 930 - then 1030 for the blood draw) My dr. said to have a "protein" breakfast so I'm thinking I'll eat a veggie omlett before I go.
Good luck to you !!

Re: 1-hour glucose test tmrw and driving myself nuts today!
I failed the 1 hour, didn't really watch what I ate the day before, so for the 3 hour I was really careful about what I ate for a couple of days before and I passed.. not sure if it helped or if it was just coincidence, but I had to try something. The girl who took my blood did say that it does help if you watch your sugar and carbs the day before.
good luck!!!!!

I have heard to limit carbs and eat lots of veggies and protein.
With my first I didn't do anything different and passed no problem.

Re: 1-hour glucose test tmrw and driving myself nuts today!
In my 1st pregnancy, I ate a bagel at 8 am and took the test at 1 pm. I was never told to fast, and I failed- but not by much. I obviously had to fast for the 3 hour test and passed that one.
This time I WILL be fasting for the one hour test...I hated sitting there for 3 hours, and this time will be worse with my 20 month old waiting for me! :)

Re: 1-hour glucose test tmrw and driving myself nuts today!
I think the worst thing you can do is analyze your diet and or change it in anyway. While it should not change the effects of your test too much for only dieting one day - you do want accurate results based on your everyday life. I had GD with my first pregnancy and while I hated every minute of it - I could imagine not knowing I did have it. I would have never expected it as I had a very normal diet my 1st pregnancy. In both my 2nd and now this pregnancy I have taken early GD 1 hour tests and have been always told go on as normal and not to fast (you do for the 3 hour).
In any event, maybe this will make you feel better - I had GD in one pregnancy and therefore are at higher risk to have it again. I failed my 1 hours in my 2nd pregnancy and passed my 3 hour. This pregnancy I had no clue when I went to my dr she was going to test me so early and while in the waiting room ate a lot of candy (skittles - pure sugar b/c one of the few foods that help me during my m/s stage) about 20 minutes before my test - and I passed the 1 hour with flying colors!!!!!!!!!!! I was shocked. I am sure so was the dr she was like you probably ate enough to equal the amount of sugar in the drink....so I passed. If you body is doing what it is suppose to do correctly - you should be fine!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

Re: 1-hour glucose test tmrw and driving myself nuts today!
If you have GD it won't matter what you eat.
If you DON'T you can falsely skew the test with a lot of sugar and carbs- and who wants to go for the 3 hour right?
So I made sure to eat low carb, low sugar the day before. I really watched.
That morning I had a hard boiled egg and a cheese stick- all protein, no carbs.
I passed...for what it's worth
