1-hr Glucose test - Do I have to fast?
I forgot to ask when I was at the doctor today. Do I have to fast before my one hour glucose test?
Also, should I avoid sugary foods the day before my test?

I would call and ask because it sounds like every doctor gives different instructions...
for me it was fasting 1hr before
Oh, and I had Mickey D's the night before and passed, so ya never know....I think if you have it you have it, regardless of what you eat the day or week before
but yeah, check w/your Dr and GOOD LUCK

no fasting. I just did mine on Friday & I had it in the am. I actually only had cheerios for breakfast but as many will tell you, avoiding the sugary foods really is not necessary. If you have GD, it will show up no matter what.

Thanks. I was just reading all the responses on the "related topics"! I guess it's a common question.
I'll have to give my Dr. a call since the answer varies depending on your OB.
(I just had a donut and an iced coffee from DD, so I was hoping that wouldn't throw my test results off! Thanks for the input about McD's. )

I start my day off with a bowl of fiber one cereal every day. I can't imagine leaving the house without eating something!
And you're right...if I have it, I have it. Better to find out than to try to "trick" the test.

please call your doctor and ask the question. they all seem to have different 'reasoning'.
for the record - i was told not to fast for the 1 hour, but to fast for the 3 hour!
