What is IUI?
IUI = Intrauterine inseminsation
Basically, my DH leaves a "sample" with the RE and they spin and clean the sperm so only the good, healthy ones are left. I go in to the RE about an hour later and have the cleaned up sample inserted into my cervix via a catheter. It's painless and the whole procedure only takes 5-10 min. In short, you're putting the sperm EXACTLY where they need to be so as soon as you ovulate they are there ready to meet the egg for fertilization. It cuts out all of the cr@ppy sperm and the "travel time".
