10 week old female Australian Shepherd ****UPDATE****
DH's boss recently got a beautiful Australian Shepherd. However, he has a 5 year old daughter who is not adjusting to the puppy at all. She is freaking out when the puppy licks her face or bumps into her. It is breaking his heart but he has to give her up. Is anyone interested? Or know of anyone who is interested? Her name is Coco. Here is a picture. FM me for more info (price, location, etc). TIA!
*****UPDATE***** DH went to work today and thankfully, his boss told him that a friend of his referred a loving couple to him and they adopted the dog. He said that he met the couple with their 15 year old son and they all fell in love with the dog and took her home with them. Thankfully this all worked out!!! Thanks so much again for everyone's insight! Image Attachment(s):

Re: 10 week old female Australian Shepherd
how long has he had the puppy? it will probably take some time, kids also do not tend to realize a puppy nips, jumps, is annoying etc. It will quickly pass. I am looking for a new dog for my kids but to be honest I dk if I want to pay for a dog, I dk how much he is asking.

Re: 10 week old female Australian Shepherd
Did he give it any time at all? If the pup is ONLY 10 weeks old, surely he could not have gotten it much younger than 8 weeks....which means it's only 2 weeks. If he got it any earlier, def not a legit breeder.
Where did he get it from? If it was a legit breeder, they would absolutely take the dog back....
Coulda, shoulda, woulda I know. But he should have had his DD meet the dog first, then this could have been avoided.
Sorry OP. Not trying to start drama and I know you are trying to help, so this isn't meant for you.
Just feel terrible reading this post.

Re: 10 week old female Australian Shepherd
I couldn't agree with you more. I think people make rash decisions about animals and not understand the full impact of adopting one. They got the puppy on the 18th and by the 23rd he was asking DH to help him find a new home for her
It upset me so much! Apparently, he was all for it. Him and his wife went to the breader in PA and they interacted with the dog. According to him, everything was fine and they got the dog. But when they got the dog home the wife all of a sudden freaked out about how she was interacting with their 5 year old daughter (licking her face, bumping into her, etc - all normal puppy stuff). The wife then says that her husband should have "read her body language at the breader better and have understood that she was uncomfortable" Makes me furious to think she didn't say anything! That's why I'm trying like crazy to help out to find her a new loving home. I wish we can take her. I'd love to give Jake a little sister to play with. But the fact is Jake is a 90 lbs lab. And we are TTC so to bring another puppy in the house would just be too overwhelming for us now.
He is asking $500 for the puppy. Plus he will give her crate, food, toys, etc for free that he just bought at the pet store for over $150.
I hope someone can help! Thanks for reading all this!

Re: 10 week old female Australian Shepherd
Posted by Coosie . Him and his wife went to the breader in PA and they interacted with the dog. According to him, everything was fine and they got the dog. But when they got the dog home the!
Why can't he just give it back to the breeder? If it's a breeder, that's WHERE the puppy should go! If he tells you otherwise, it's either a real BYB and he KNOWS that, or it's not from a breeder and he's lying. Or he thinks he can find it a better home. He is really not the best person to find it a forever home. It's still so young, this should be done RIGHT so the dog gets the RIGHT home. Please try to convey this message to him.
And honestly, what is wrong with them? They chose such a LARGE breed dog, what did they think would happen? It's a large puppy, of course it's gonna jump and lick faces, be strong, etc. God help that puppy, as I see you are trying to do. Sounds like they have little to no rational sense.
Thank you for understanding my post and not getting upset with it. You are a kind person to try to help, as you can clearly see this puppy DOES need help from someone who puts animals best interests first.

Re: 10 week old female Australian Shepherd
As the PP mentioned, they should definitely return him to the breeder if that is in fact where they got him from. I find it terrible that people don't realize what a commitment having a pet is and that it's AWFUL to just get rid of them because they're not working out, don't have the time, etc.
And not only are Australian shepherds a a large breed they are also a very active breed! They need a ton of exercise.
I hope everything works out and they are able to get him back to the breeder or to a good home. Poor pup.

Re: 10 week old female Australian Shepherd
Thanks for your responses everyone. I told DH that when he goes back to work tomorrow that he should tell his boss to contact the breader (if he hasn't done so already). I just this little girl gets a second shot at a great loving life with a warm loving family!
